Fine for web and email use. Steep learning curve beyond that.
First off, my ebay buying experience was excellent. I was an XP user and was deciding between Windows 7 and Windows 8. I was reluctant to move to Windows 8 based on all the negative reviews. However, the negative voice in our world always seems to be the strongest so that along with the fact that the folks at the electronic stores could not give me any specific foundational reason other than "Don't do it...go with 7" led me to go ahead with 8. Am I disappointed, yes. Would I recommend it...possibly. Would I buy for my personal use again...no. If you primarily use your computer to check email, browse the web and play some games. It is perfectly fine and I might even recommend it. If you like to do things your own way, expect to be able to navigate menus and find programs and various settings easily and intuitively, it is a royal pain. I find myself constantly doing web searches in order to do the simplest of things. Ex/ 2-click access to the last file I had open. I gave it 3 stars, because for a lot of users I think Windows 8 is probably fine. Me personally, it is not. If it were not for rumors about a Windows 9 lurking, I would be selling this and looking for Windows 7.
