We need a book that covers this material
1 von 4 finden das hilfreich It's really difficult to review this book objectively. On the one hand, the subject is very important; we need to know how to look after our bodies; and there isn't much competition. So buy it. On the other hand, the presentation is terrible. It could be made half the length, and twice as readable, by leaving out most of the childish jokes. The diagrams could be made more useful and informative by leaving out the jokey elves (and some of the diagrams consist of nothing else). 50% of the book is good information. The other 50% is the message "We're doctors! So we're smart. You're not! So you're stupid", conveyed by the assumption that everything has to be dumbed down, and repeated on every page.
The authors make little attempt to distinguish between material that is universally accepted among qualified experts, and material that is controversial or open to question. For example, not every physician agrees that you should take 1000mg of vitamin C every day, or 162mg of aspirin every day if you're over 40. But these are presented as established facts, on a par with the advice to stop smoking or exercise regularly.
We need a better book that covers the same basic material. Until one is published, make do with this one. If you're a physician, consider writing a better book. Millions of people want this information. Present it straight, and you'll blow "YOU: The Owner's Manual" out of the water.

One of the best shows today!
0 von 4 finden das hilfreich I'm a huge fan of medical dramas and originally I really didn't see how this show could differ itself from any other average medical show. I got hooked in the first five minutes and I've been watching ever since. Now that ER is sort of past its prime Grey's Anatomy can easy claim the title as the best medical drama on television.
What really differs the show from any other medical show I've seen is the character development. The character development helped keep me interested and I felt I got to know Meredith and the other interns. I also got a feel for the hardships being an intern is and how much work goes into becoming a doctor. You also get a feeling of connection with the interns because of how much we find out about them. Dr. Shepherd, Dr. Bailey, and Dr. Burke help them along the way and offer some good advice. It's very informative and I've learned a few things watching it.
Overall I think Grey's Anatomy is one of the best and most addictive shows on TV right now. This DVD is a great way to see it from the beginning and it's priced right and I highly recommend it.

If you have HDTV, get this one!
5 von 7 finden das hilfreich I bought my system about 2 months ago from Amazon.com. Since this is my first HD gaming system I have no reference point of comparison. Consequently, I, nor anyone else for that matter (unless you happen to be those lucky or nutty ones who actually got hold of a PS3 in the past couple of days), can say anything with regard to the PS3. I have played over 10 demos, including COD2, Dead of Alive, FIFA WC, Quake4, GRAW, etc... and have purchased a GOW and I can say that playing HD games is an incredible experience. I won't bore you all with more frothing-at-mouth praise of the system and the game playing experience. What I will add is that I'm truly blown away by the "HD" feel of the photo viewing from my computer via xbox 360. My photos were taken with a 5 mp camera and I have viewed them on my 60" Sony LCD projection HD TV and got expected results since these 5 mp shots were never meant to be viewed on a 60" screen. Consequently, pictures showed too much flaws and pixilations. However, I just set up my xbox 360 to access my computer and it's photos and, I tell ya, the photos look incredibly detailed with vibrant colors. This is probably the most impressive aspect of my xbox 360 experience, likely due to the fact it was so unexpected.
