Canon SD600 tiny camera
The price was right. I'd been shopping for one or two for months.
The price was right, probably because the protective "shutters" don't close across the lens
when not in use. I figure I can live with that. I don't really need this parti-
cular camera, but I love it, and had already bought two for my wife (the first one went south in the commonest way; the lens stopped extending. But at my
thrifty price, that's OK after a year.)
The particular feature of this model is an old-fashioned viewfinder, lacking in
most tiny digital cameras today. It has small size, a big and bright display window, sharp
images, a surprisingly good movie mode for its size, and excellent controls,
though these are not as easy to use as they might be.
The one thing it lacks, compared to my previous favorite, the Optio S, is the
ability to make long sound recordings, and without having to tie each sound
recording to an image.
For some kinds of things, you can find an absurdly low price if you have time
and patience. And I offer a tribute to my fellow-members, and to the system,
and say that I have rarely been disappointed when my Ebay purchase arrived, and
only once had an "unpleasant experience" -- which on mature consideration I
thought was due to misfortune that struck the seller. On the contrary, more than
once a seller has done better by me than I had any right to expect.

works a little but not magic

Pentax Optio 4.0 camera
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich A fine little camera; controls are not too complicated; 4 megapixels is really plenty for everyday use. I bought it because my Pentax Optio S camera, now 4 years old, with 3.2 megapixels, may not last forever, and will I be able to replace it when the time comes? I looked for something in the same family at an attractive price on Ebay, and the 4.0 is what came up. It is better than the S in having a few more pixels, and in using two AA batteries instead of a special battery, but it isn't quite as small, though it will still fit in a shirt pocket all right. The controls are a trifle more convenient than in the Optio S. The only lack is the alarm clock feature that the Optio S has -- an odd thing to find in a camera, but very convenient when travelling !
I think the picture quality is excellent; but I'm no expert.
