Absolutely amazing RPG
Dragon Warrior IV debuted in North America in '92, as one of, if not the best RPG on the NES. As the final Dragon Warrior on the beloved NES and with the richest game play, compelling story, and memorable characters out of all of them so far, it is highly sought after. The story is broken up into five chapters. The first four each detailing the adventures of the main Hero's (your) future companions; in the fifth the player searches for those in previous chapters to go on a journey that legends are made of. A classic battle of 'good vs. evil', revenge, mystery, hope, and restoration; with a cast of characters you'll not soon forget: from a soldier of a great country, to a merchant father and husband, to a princess, to dancers and fortune tellers. The game play is just like most other RPGs, turn based battles that reward exp, gold, and sometimes items at the end which the player uses to level up or purchase items. However, Dragon Warrior IV brings something to the table that most other RPGs don't have: the "Tactics" option. With this, the player can give the other characters (those met in chapters 1-4) set orders on how to battle. Whether it be strictly "offense", "defense", "save MP" (Magic Points), or just "try out". (This lets the other characters experiment with their attacks.) This innovation would later be used in Dragon Quest V and VI. It's really fun to be able to play around with the "Tactics" and it adds in some cases, to the level of difficulty. Dragon Warrior IV is very well known for even further expounding the world and game play than the previous titles, this game is absolutely huge. Loads of items, spells, towns, areas, and dungeons to use and explore. At the time of the release, not much had improved graphic wise over Dragon Warrior III, but that's okay, because these are still amazing for the time. (Some bosses even have very fluid movement that will give you the willies.) The music is some of the best in the series at the time and still is epic and mood setting. Really, you'll want this pumped up. This game is simply amazing and worth shelving out the cash for. You shouldn't have any regrets purchasing it, highly recommended.

The first in a line of greats
The first of one of the best RPG Series to date; made it's debut in North America on the NES in August of '89 Dragon Warrior is a very simple and fun RPG. The player takes control of a young hero sent to rescue a kidnapped princess, recover the kingdom's precious Ball of Light, and slay the evil Dragon Lord. The gameplay is very basic RPG style. Turn based battles, victory leads to experience points and gold which allows the player to level up and buy weapons/armor/items respectively. The graphics are great for the time and the music is one of the most memorable in gaming; up there with the Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy. The game offers a variety of weapons, armor, and items to use; several towns and villages to visit, and a decent sized list of enemies to defeat and dungeons to explore. While a much smaller world than most RPGs of the time, Dragon Warrior is wonderfully brilliant. It has a great story (that is further explored in DW II and III), a good level of difficulty throughout the game, and moments you'll never forget. Like the first time, "A slime draws near!" Definitely worth buying for any RPG lover and a must for any NES Collection.

A must have
Originally an arcade game, Bubble Bobble was ported to several home computers and game consoles, among these, the NES. The story is about two spiky-tailed Bubble Dragons fighting through the Cave of Monsters to save their girlfriends. Gameplay is really simple: Your goal each round is to encase monsters in bubbles then give them a brilliant "pop", sending them to their doom. Each round (or level) is one screen, no scrolling, or flipping. (In some rounds players can fall through a hole in the floor and end up at the top of the screen.) The graphics are pretty good for the time and definitely one of the most pleasing NES games to look at. Each of the characters/enemies are fun and innovative, ranging from a ghost like creature, to whales, to a wind up toy box. The music is absolutely memorable, once you hear it, you'll always remember it. Though it's pretty much the same song through all the levels; it's upbeat and lively enough to not detract from the gaming experience or annoy you to pieces. This game is great solo, but even better with a partner. Definitely a game you'll have hours of fun with. Highly recommended for any gamer and a must have for any NES collection.
