Fun, easy to control first person shooter!
I'll start this off by saying that I bought this game with having read multiple reviews and critics smashing this game in all its areas, so I didn't expect too much. This game was just "fun". Nothing more, nothing less. One of its strengths was how the game was played. It was very easy for me to get into this game right from the get-go and it never let me down until the ending. Then there was the "ending". The game just "ended". Truely a bummer, but there is some replay value I suppose. I'll just make up a few catagories and end this review with that. If this game had a 10 star selection instead of the 5 star, I would have given it a strong 7/10, so giving it the 4/5 is being generous. For $12, it was worth the purchase and it's a welcome to my Wii library of games. Looking forward to see where this series goes in the future... Graphics - 8/10 (Detailed environments, too many flickers in the background of some of the stages, but not enough to fully distract. If I'm not mistaken, I'm seeing a bit of normal mapping and realistic enemy textures!) Gameplay - 9/10 (From the start, I never had an issue with the way the game plays. Hell! Even my eleven year old daughter started playing the game without much assistance and managed to get past the opening levels. I love how you can customize the control schemes as well.) Music/Sound - 7/10 (Music was the weakest of the two, but there were a few tracks that were more ambient and fitting the story. Tons of vocalizations between the Protagonist and other in game characters.) Replay Value - 6/10 (After the single player missions are completed, there's still online multiplayer to "try" out. I didn't really like how this part of the game is set up. There were a few things that I was not able to acheive on the first go-around in which (if I get really bored and have nothing else to do) I'll go back through and gather to make 100% completion.) OVERALL 7/10

Good and Easy Game!
Dawn of Discovery was a surprise for me. I bought this game without any further knowledge and I will say that this game was good, while it lasted. There are a few good things about the game while there are a few things that could have been changed or left out. Let me begin with the good parts. Dawn of Discovery had some satisfying moments. The thing I enjoyed the most was just building things on a "fresh" new island. Discovering new islands to strenghen my resources was fun to a point as well. There were times when I was so focused on building things, that when the level ended, I felt bummed, as if I should have been the one to "end" that particular level. Of course, it doesn't work that way in DoD. Other things I like about the game was the easy controls and the ability to manipulate the user interface. Every command was precise and clear, never a moment when I didn't know where to look for a particular action. There were a few things about the game that could have been changed or even taken out and I'll start with the voice acting. While the voice acting in this game was,for the most part, "good", when tasked with whatever the story has me doing, the NPC's would repeat themselves way too much (The corsairs' sound bank was just a few lines long and I can almost hear it over and over, treasure hunting was fun, but almost wanted to turn down the volume while doing so). Now maybe it's just me that has this general complaint, but when I play any game, I am that person that likes to make sure I get the most of the level. Other things that bugged me about the game was the fact that the story seemed rushed with a lot of holes. I would have preferred a generic story without the still frame cutscenes, but I guess for the most part, it made sense. In a nutshell, DoD was a good game that has a place and I do recomment anyone that enjoys strategic/RTS-like games, to try this one out. If you can find this game for under $20, it's a bargain. -Fhinlord-

Neat and addictive little game with humor and excellent design elements!
When Pikmin was first released for the Nintendo Gamecube, I was not very interested in the game. In fact, never liked RTS games too much. They were always hard for me to get into. Now some years later, I decided to take the chance on this one (after all, it had really good reviews) and will have to say that it's THE BEST $8 game I've ever owned, and probably will always be. While I'm really liking the game, I have noticed one thing that's not suiting me well, the length of game. With just several hours of gameplay, the game is almost done! I'm not that good (or am I?). The gameplay is very solid as you meet and build new Pikmin. The 3 different types of Pikmin allow you to make your way through the few stages to gather the parts to the lead characters' broken down ship. Each Pikmin have their own skills/specialty which in turn must be stragetically used to gather each and every part. It's an addictive game and would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys RTS games. I guess this means I'll be in search for Pikimin 2.
