Gillespie Hay, John Macdougall Very Good Book

A true Scottish classic
I was told that this classic which was written at the end of the 19th century was initially banned. The picture of the Argyllshire based fishing community rings true as does how MacDougall Hay's portrayal of the mentality of Gillespie Strang. It should be on the reading list of every student at Higher English.

An easy to read book about the life of Jack Milroy, and his wife Mary Lee, who wrote the book. Numerous stories about the major players of Scottish Variety Theatre enhance the script. If like me, you knew many of these characters it may bring a tear to the eye !

Ideal for all who are interested in the Dutch rail network and also of great historical interest as it shows The Netherlands from fifteen years ago.
