MI:III - high marks for re-watchability
3 von 5 finden das hilfreich I own all three of the "Mission: Impossible" movies and I think that this one is probably the one I'll end up re-watching the most. I saw it in the theater and decided to buy the DVD because the movie is fast-paced, funny, exciting, and definitely never dull. Compared to the first film in the series (which I also really like and have re-watched many times) this film is more constantly engaging; again, never a dull moment. The thing that really makes this one better to me though, is the emotional base that is established with the relationship between Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his fiance, which comes across so well (in my opinion) because of J.J. Abrams' directing, and having a villian (played exceptionally well by Phillip Seymour Hoffman) that is so easy to hate. The one thing that I disliked about this film is that the audience barely gets to know the other IMF agents that Ethan works with on his missions, which is something that was done so well in the first movie. Overall, however, I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone (male or female) who enjoys story and character-driven action movies, and it's worth owning rather than renting because it is very re-watchable.

Not just a simple love story, but a good one
I first saw this movie through Netflix and realized, since I'd watched it several times before returning it, that it was something worth buying, since I try to only buy DVDs that I know I'll want to watch many times. This movie is very re-watchable because it shows a truly romantic romance, is truly emotional without being too depressing, and (SPOILER ALERT) has a happy ending without it being too perfect (and therefore unrealistic).
Now, for more facts on the movie itself and the DVD itself. The movie is in French with English subtitles. It was originally made for French TV, but the quality is movie quality, not TV movie quality. The basic plot centers around Laurent, a cute college student who allows his parents to believe that he's dating Carole, his best friend and roommate, because he can't tell them he's gay (for reasons you'll find out in the movie). This arrangement is working fine until Laurent gets an intership working with the very sexy Cedric and they begin a relationship and fall in love. Cedric, who has been out to his mother, etc. for 11 years doesn't want to hide the relationship, but Laurent just won't come out to his parents, and trouble ensues. This movie does a very good job of showing sweet, romantic scenes as well as showing friction in a relationship. It also shows the complicated relationships in a family.
For those wondering about content since the movie is not rated, while it would never be able to appear on American TV, it is actually fairly tame; there are love scenes between Laurent and Cedric, but nothing AT ALL graphic, one scene where you see breasts, and a fair bit of swearing (which anyone would expect in a French film). Some might be disappointed with the DVD itself as it is very basic - just the film, settings (for subtitles or not), and scene selection - with no "extras," but again, this was originally made for TV and probably not expected to be released on DVD.
All in all, if you like cute guys and realistic but sweet romances, this is a movie you'll probably enjoy.
