Great travel entertainment device
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich This device is great for travel entertainment. The number of quality games is amazing, though some can get expensive. The storage capacity is good for handling a large volume of music with a few videos and plenty of pictures to bore the people who are waiting with you. It would be good if there were more business applications that would allow you to use as a PDA as well. That would really make this excellent because you could do away with one of your devices. There is a lot of software available including business applications. Most of them have to be purchased and don't work with Micro Soft application well if at all,e.g.,no way to work with an Excell worksheet. You can read an Excell worksheet, however. The nightstand clock we downloaded works better than any travel clock and we added a flashlight program that is really handy. You can add safety programs like first aide advice and S.O.S flashing if stranded. The GPS is really handy for many things, but, you have to have Wi-Fi signal available and that is not as easy as you might think it would be. The built in maps are just great for travel and around town. It uses Google maps via Wi-Fi, but stores the map(s) to be used off line.
There are so many ways this device can be used other than just entertainment and I'm sure many more programs will come. It is fun and very easy to carry. The screen size is a good compromise between view ability and potability. It would be nice if there were a stand so you didn't have to hold it on the plane. It would be a much better travel companion if it had at least an 8mp camera built in it. It is easier than it seems to manage memory after you realize most of it is done automatically,i.e.,the music list will delete any music taken out on your base computer. This is not explained in the manual, but customer service can help you set-up two files instead of one.
We would caution you to really watch how you use this device. It can become very expensive fast. If you buy your music from iTunes you will pay per song. Movies can be rented and that is nice. The programs can get expensive. When we registered our device the registration process told us we were entitled to a free upgrade to our software. We agreed, but were told we had the latest version of the software. That was nice to know. We were then charged $9.97 for a software upgrade we didn't get or need. We still haven't been able to find who to contact or how to dispute this charge. Fortunately we use American Express and they are great about removing incorrect charges. Also, watch using the Wi'Fi as some people charge to use their signal as found out while walking around South Beach Miami where we were charged $10 for 20 minutes of use. The problem with the way the charges are made is that they go directly to your credit card with out informing you that you are about to make a charge. Most will inform you ahead of time that there is a charge, but not all.
Over all we are disappointed that a few key applications like Excell don't work, but other than that we are very happy and highly recommend this device. Do get as much memory as you can afford, especially if you want to watch movies.

Nice toy
The different photo effects are interesting and fun to play with. The video feature was the reason for purchasing this item. We didn't know how much we would use a video and didn't want to spend several hundred dollars for something we wouldn't use very often. The flash does not work with the video. This really limits its use to outdoors or very well light areas inside. The quality is alright. It is more like a toy. I would not use it for pictures or video that were important enough to keep. A real negative is the covers for the SD card and plugs. They are held on by a very thin piece of plastic that is not long enough or open far enough to work comfortable and will break off quickly exposing the card and plug openings. It also eats batteries. New batteries don't last very long at all. When I have used it, I've had to replace the batteries at least twice during maybe an half hour of use. It is so fragile that I've found I don't use it beyond the initial experimentation when I received it.
It is a nice fun toy and should be considered just that. Though, it is too delicate for children and younger people as it does break very easy and the battery door gets loose and starts to fall off after several battery changes and you will be changing batteries a lot.
