Could it be? Jack Black lets me down?
I was pretty excited when I originally saw the previews for this one. I'm a huge Jack Black fan and as far as rapper/actors go, well Mos Def is no Tupac Shakur, but I like him. Throw in Danny Glover, Mia Farrow...how could you go wrong with this kind of star power? Well for starters, Be Kind Rewind just isn't all that funny. I don't know if my expectations of a Jack Black film are too high or what. He's got some moments that will get a laugh out of you, but Saving Silverman it is not. Jack just simply wasn't the show stealer that he should have been in this one. The ending of the movie was a huge disappointment. Without spoiling it for those who still decide to watch the film, I'll say this; The entire movie is based on this basic plot. Unfortunately, you won't ever find out what happens. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for movies requiring me to think and use a little bit of imagination with regards to what happens afterwards. This really isn't that type of movie though. This isn't Devil's Advocate...this is a veg-out and laugh out loud type of film. Simply put...it just ends. I'm not sure why the writers wanted the audience to think about such a simple concept after watching this film, but apparently they did. Unfortunately, I think it's more likely that viewers will just say "Forget it...who cares?!?" My recommendation would be this...If you REALLY wanted to see this and have a Netflix account, or a friend you can borrow it from, I'd go ahead. It's not so bad that you won't be able to sit through it. I wouldn't bother investing any kind of money into it though...the time you waste is more than enough.

No bang for your buck!
I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a couple of PS3s at launch, and I gotta tell you...I'm a tad disappointed. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't just blown away by the launch titles, even before I decided to get a PlayStation 3. Having said that, and having played almost all of them, I'm still not blown away. In fact, most of the games thus far are pretty pathetic. I did however, rationalize this prior to getting a Play Station 3. I didn't let cruddy games deter my desire for such a monster of a system. And a monster it is. This thing is by far the most powerful console on the market to date. Unfortunately, sheer power doesn't justify the $600 price tag. The graphics on the PS3 are amazing. They are exactly what you'd expect out of a next generation console. Here's the thing though...they're not any better than the Xbox 360s or a PCs graphics. One thing that really bugs me about this system is that it doesn't come with HD cables. One of the biggest draws of this console is the way it plays in high definition. What will a set of HDMI cables cost you ask? Only an additional $100. The controllers are something I was really excited about. I always liked the size and feel of the Sony controller. They are bluetooth though. What this means is that you must register your controller with your system before it will work. So if you take your controller to a friends house, you will have to register it with your friend's system, and then register it with yours again when you return home. In addition, this can only be done by connecting a wire to your controller. Seems like a lot of effort. I got an Xbox 360 at launch and planned on just playing that until the PS3 was released. I enjoed being able to hook up my iPod and play my own music while watching games. Want to know how to do that with your PS3? Well too bad, because you can't. The music masters have yet to implement this into their $600 gaming system. You can play music from your iPod, just not while you're playing a game. I'm one of those types that likes to take advantage of downloading trailers, game demos, etc. from my console's online service. Thankfully Sony allows me to do this. Unfortunately, I can't do it while doing anything else on the system. I also can't turn the system off until the download is complete or I will loose everything that had been downloaded to that point. I'm not really into text messaging and keeping friends on my console system, though this is a popular feature on all of the big 3 consoles. If I were though, I'd be pretty disappointed with Sony's version. Text messaging on a PS3 is worse than text messaging on a cell phone. In order to communicate with someone from my mater list of friends slist, I have to once again, stop everything just to chat. I have no doubt that Sony has rushed this thing for the Holiday season, and that they will probably turn things around. I've seen at least two games exclusive for the PS3 that I'd be interested in playing. I'm sure they can fix the seemingly thrown together online service they've got. But will it all be too late by then? If you want really cool graphics like the 360s on games that are on the 360 and don't mind dropping $800 minimum, AND can look past the faults mentioned above, then this may be the holiday gift you are looking for. I give the Playstation 3, a Three...out of Five.

The only Idol album worth buying
I live 15 minutes from where Kelly grew up, so maybe I'm kind of partial. Since the age of music on the Internet, I rarely purchase CD's unless I really feel the artist is worthy. I know it sounds horrible, but I'm just being realistic. Anyhow, this album is hands down, the best of any artist to come out of American Idol. You know when you buy a CD and you can just sit and listen to every song and enjoy it? You find yourself going through every track without pressing that skip button? This IS that album. This young lady is amazing. She is by far one of the most talented vocalists of our time, and this album shows it. Hit after hit, Kelly has done it.
