Movie sews together what series leaves open.
I highly recomend this movie to anyone who followed the Fullmetal Alchemist anime series. The movie puts together all the big pieces that the last episode of the series seems to leave lying about. As a stand alone movie, this probably isn't as good because it pulls so heavily from the 50 episode series and unless you've watched the series a fair amount, particularly the last 15 episodes or so, you'll be lost during parts of the movie. The movie starts two years after the last episode of the series, which the description tells you. The Elric brothers are trapped in different worlds, and both are trying desperately to find a way to open a portal between them, to find the other. Alphonse Elric has become even more adept in alchemy during the two years of study since the last episode, and travels his world looking for the alchemy to find his brother. Edward Elric, stuck in our world, has taken up the study of rocketry in order to try and find a way back without the use of his alchemy. He encounters and interacts with many people in the other world that resemble/reflect key people from his world that he met during their travels. With the help (and sometimes interference) of these people he moves closer to finding a way back to his world. I gave this movie 4 stars because I loved it as an ending to the series, but as a movie by itself it would never sell because it depends so much on the plot build up from before. I would recomend this to anyone who liked the series and, like me, was a little put off with its ending.

Story delivers, ending does not
If you played KotOR 1, I recomend you play this one too. The play style is much the same. The only thing they added are some new force powers. Aside from that, the controls, UI, and actions are basically all the same. The story in this one is much different than the last, although the last one does tie into this one. Depending on certain answers you give to questions about what happened in the last game, certain things will be said/heard later on. One of my favorite parts about this one rather than the first was the ability to influence your crew. I thought this was a great additino. By doing things, evil or good, you gain influence or lose it with members of your crew. ALso, your alignment greatly affects theirs as well. Some you can even teach to be Jedi, with enough influence. This aspect of the game makes it very apealing throughout the entire plotline. The major drawback to this game is the conclusion. The story just kind of builds up throughout the game and then meanders on to the end. And the ending itself is a huge let down. If you liked KotOR I would play this for sure. If you haven't, then I would still recomend it, though less highly.

Great movie for anyone, amazing for Firefly fans.
For those who don't know, this movie was based on the TV series Firefly. The series was spectacular, but Fox doomed it to failure by running it on Friday instead of a weekday night, not running it in widescreen as was intended, and by running the series completely out of chronological order (which is somewhat important for the storyline). The show was canceled before the 1st season finished. It really is a shame, because the show is action packed and hilarious. I reccomend it to anyone who likes sci-fi, western, or just wants to try something new. After the show was canceled many fans created a Firefly underground on the net and rallied their support for the show. The response from dedicated fans was so huge that creator Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) began pitching the idea for a movie. The movie was picked up and that's where Serenity came from. The movie itself is very good. If you haven't seen Firefly, you will still enjoy it. The characters have a great chemistry and show it in every scene. It's entertaining because it doesn't focus only on the action and the sci-fi aspects, but focuses alot on the human aspect of the storyline. The plotline in the movie wraps up the big storyline from the series, so while it makes more sense if you've seen the show, it isn't completely necessary. The movie is full of adventure, humor, and humanity. All those good choke-you up things without being too hokey (as much as you can be in a scif-i anyway). I recomend this movie to anyone, and if you are already a Firefly fan, I already know you will buy it regardless of what a review says. If you haven't seen Firefly, pick it up.
