Macrobiotic Meets Today's Tastes
I have been checking out the library copy whenever available so I finally purchased my own copy! Like any cooking method I don't always like the recipes but most of the ones I have tried are very good. Such a variety of foods & flavors it's hard not to find something to one's preference. The only problem I have is in finding an ingredient occassionally such as amasake and beet powder.

I bought this little gem because my circumstances prevent upgrading to a better camera. I own a very basic 5MP Canon compact camera (@ 6 yrs old). Over the years the challenge has always been to know my camera's abilities & limitations. This book has encouraged me in that direction and helped me accomplish some pretty amazing work. The book helped me meet my goals to accomplish a blurred background (a huge challenge) and take a senior portrait to please family, friends & student. Let me tell you my retro, indoor portraits amaze everyone so far. I didn't think I could do indoor poses but the book gives good points how to utilize available light. I also did a spectacular photo of a giant spider web I happened upon one morning. Much to my surprise I managed to blur the background. The perspective was amazing! So much so that I submitted it for publication and landed it on the front page of the local newspaper. Rick Sammon really helps one accomplish a great deal without a DSLR. I have found this book (and other publications and videos of Rick Sammon) to have simple and well organized layouts. You will be hard pressed to distinguish the photos in the book --- compact camera or DSLR? You will be surprised at the answers. I first had a library copy, but finally had to have my own. I also bought one for a friend as a HS grad gift so she can take fantastic photos with her compact camera. All I can say is WOW. Trust me there is no other book so dedicated to this topic! Go out and get yours today (yesterday would have been better). DON'T DELAY! GET YOURS TODAY! And remember - cameras don't take great pictures PEOPLE do. Let Rick Sammon show you how. ^..^

Truly Old World Romance
This is probably one of the few interior decorating books that impelled me to actually READ it from cover to cover. I first discovered it at the library and bought it because I found it helped to show luxury has less to do with the finances and more to do with your approach. Also, unlike the speed decorating of HGTV, this can be a gradual and pleasant process. I have done wonderful things in my 600 sq. ft. thanks to Jessica's assistance. I look forward to the continued transformation of my space.
