OLED Fingertip Pulse Oximeter Finger Blood Oxygen SPO2 Heart Rate PR Monitor+Bag

Compact and functional
I wanted a simple device to give a quick heart-rate check while I am exercising on my spinning bike. I have a chest HR monitor but sometimes I just climb on the bike for 10-20 minutes and don't want to have to strip off to fit the chest strap. This device attracted me because of the OLED display which was much clearer and informative than some of the LED or LCD ones appeared to be. The device comes in a tight pouch with velcro seal and a belt loop on the back, though only a narrow belt would be feasible. It also has a semicircular ring so it can be clipped onto something else. A long ribbon lanyard is provided but I struggled to thread the end of the lanyard through either of the eyelets on the device so attached it to the pouch ring instead and that hangs from the handle bars of the bike, easy to reach. The device itself is neat and attractive and it is easy to fit the supplied batteries (2 x AAA). Although there is a pimpled area at the hinge end, the first time I tried to squeeze it open it flipped out of my hands but fortunately landed on the couch. After some experimentation I worked out the best way to open it and it is easy to slip a finger in and it is held securely. The device has detectors on the top and bottom so you can put your finger in either way and get a reading. Pressing the button starts the sensor and the display lights up in a pleasing cyan with clear text. After a short while it will begin to beep in time with your heart rate, which is shown as digits, as a bar graph as well as a scrolling line or area graph. You can turn the beep off by holding the button down. Additional short presses of the button rotate the display so you can read it from any direction. The SpO2 figure is also shown along with a meter showing available batter power. Once you remove your finger the device runs a little while then switches off. In terms of accuracy it seems to be very good though sometimes it failed to show any more than a level scrolling graph but removing and re-inserting my finger seemed to fix it. All in all it is a neat little device, small enough to be easily portable and easy to use. It seems reasonably robust and the pouch keeps it safe. The display is excellent and I'd definitely recommend it over the LED variants for clarity. Being a creamy white plastic means it could get grubby over time but can be wiped clean with a damp cloth to keep it in good condition. In conclusion, a great little device and not expensive for what it is.
CHROME SPOTLIGHT BAR BATHROOM LIGHT - IP44 ARIES 7444CC

Stylish and good quality
I needed a new bathroom light fitting to replace the exttremely old one that failed (the sort of thing that Drew Pritchard buys cheap and sells for a mint). Although cheaper ones are available, they do tend to look their price whereas this one is a substantial unit and looks like a good quality fitting. There were two issues with it; first is that the shiny oval metal disk that holds the light bars has an edge like a knife and it's easy to slice into a finger when handling it. The other is that it only seems to be offered with halogen bulbs. In these days of energy savings it would make more sense to offer an LED version. I bought a pack of cream white LEDs to replace the energy guzzling halogens, which obviously added to the price. There's no compromise in brightness, in fact the four lights may be too much for a small bathroom as they throw out a lot of light but being able to direct the beams means the light can be spread around. It is perfect for lighting up the usually shady space behind the shower curtain since it peeps over the top. The grips on the individual lamps allows easy control for angling the fittings and the bar design gives a lot of flexibility. I can't say the fitting is in keeping with this 1930 house but I bought it for practicality and not authenticity and on that count it is a big improvement. If you are looking for a good quality, flexible and bright bathroom light fitting then I don't think you will go too far wrong with this one, even if it does cost a bit more than some of the rival units on Amazon.
