For the discerning 'Minidisc' supporter!!
This is a lovely deck that still holds it's own today in the cut-throat industry of digital media! I DJ off minidisc and vinyl which is why I purchased this unit, with vinyl more hands on it is so much more versatile and cost effective these days to aquire ones music off the net digitally and play with it to your hearts content before going to mix with it! .... The one thing I would point out is the limitations of 'NETMD'- the interface to transfer digital music off the PC to MD. Sony have tried to tie your hands with the two forms of software available out there as a medium for doing so! 'OpenMG jukebox' & 'SonicStage' .... This seems to be a real pain to many judging by the forums on the subject! Believe me there are many that have fell foul of this trap wanting to retain audio clarity without compressing the original source file! .... With a little cunning and patience coupled with a good few hours trawling the internet, this is easily overcome and it is totally possible to download music off the net, copy tracks from any source and transfer to MD without compressing retaining 320kbps original format!! So with this in mind the NETMD as limiting as it first comes across really opens up this deck to become a perfect gadget for keeping MD alive!! I never understood why Minidisc never took off!! When it first came out it was so ahead of the game and knocked the socks off CD!! Before editing software and CD burners became mainstream Minidisc was there with it's tough protective case, small, compact design, re-recordable etc etc Beats me why it failed so! To us hardcore supporters of the media you'll love the functions and form of this deck! Easy to navigate, flawless operation, superb clarity and playback reproduction! Party on one and all! Hope you enjoy your deck as much as I do mine!
