Noises Off !
A truly off beat comedy wth a tremendous cast. Just knowing the stars of this film is enough to get you laughing...Michael Caine, Carol Burnette, John Ritter, Julie Haggerty, Marilu Henner and Christopher Reeve.
Michal Caine plays the part of a director trying to put the pieces together of a stage comedy with a confused, to say the least, cast. As the show begins it's tour of of small stage venues around the country as it's warm up for Broadway, it's downhill all the way. As the show hilariously falls apart by pieces from stage to stage, it's hard to not to lose track of what's happening because of laughing to the point of tears. I must say, each time I watch this film, I see something I missed from the time before.
If you need a break from reality and want to laugh yourself silly, this is the film to see.
Since this film never hit the big screen and went direct to video, those who edon't buy and watch this excellent comedy are cheating themselves out of a treat.

A League of Their Own
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich This is a great movie with a superb cast. Well acted , World War II time period about professional Women's baseball. Covers the gamut as far as character study about the star players and coach, and shows the dedication of women in sports during a time period where the women belonged in the home. It shows another aspect of where women "picked up the ball and ran with it", (no pun intended) during a time when every available man was involved in the service of their country at war. Many movies, books and documentaries enlighten us to the fact that effectively women took the place of men in the industrial world, taking on out of character jobs such as welders, machinists, shipfitters and the like during the second World War and were instrumental in the Allied forces victory, but this fine film shows a lighter side with the "girls" keeping an American pastime thriving during a difficult time period.
This review may sound like I am promoting Women's Lib., but in reality, I had the pleasure of being involved as a driver for a University women's division 1 softball team for 7 years, and this film portrays the dedication and capabilities I witnessed without the ego problems common in other sports .
If your lookig for a lighthearted yet moving story about sports, I recommend this film highly. Definately 4 Stars in my Book.

Delerious
If your in the mood for nonsense, this is the movie to watch. Held together with Raymond Burr playing a part completely out normal screen/TV character (Perry Mason, Ironside), the film's storyline unravels at time due to either poor editing (trying to cover too much ground in too short of time) or simply poor script. Actually, this film is a blend of a Readers Digest version of "Soapdish" and a dream. John Candy fits his part well and does his best, the writers went a little overboard in some scenes.
The story is about a soap scriptwriter who's ficticious soap world becomes reality after he's involved in a car accident and transported to a hospital, staffed by people, in a town who's citizen are all creations of his in soap scripts. The story is moch too rushed and the viewer has to keep using his own imagination to keep tying things together.
All in all, the film is entertaining but lacks the belly laughs one would expect from reading the review on the packaged product.
