Digital Home Recording
This was a book I purchased as I began to build my home studio. I am not a novice by any means, but have been away from the recording scene for a number of years. Jon Chappell's (Editor) work is a great primer for those who want to understand what they are attempting to accomplish before they spend the money! The writing, though technically based is not "over the head", and the tips and tricks are both practical and germaine to the endevor. The book was also honest in the assessment of equipment needs, and savvy in the reminder that things are changing technically, even as the book was being written. I am very pleased with this purchase!

Sennheiser never lets you down!
I purchased the ME-4 for better control over brass and wind instruments using wireless mic systems. It is particularly effective for those situations where the brass or woodwind soloist is prone to moving around in the live stage sound field, and across the various monitor position fields. It also gives the flexibility to add dynamics and various effects to those solo instruments without overloading the signal chain due to intermittent pick-up from adjacent instrument monitors. A very tightly focused cardioid pattern allows a close mic placement relative to the instrument bell; and subsequently higher spl monitoring before feedback.

Purchased to deliver better bottom end response and warmth from male vocals and acoustic instruments; in live sound situations where high SPL's were the norm...the super-tight focus pattern makes feedback control on hot stages a breeze...great rejection from off-axis sound sources, while capturing the focus field flawlessly...
I have used Sennheiser products for years, and they are a definite step up from the everyday standards...
