Older controllers for a newer system
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich I bought a set of 4 of these controllers to use when playing GameCube games on my Wii, because I wanted to avoid having dangling cords everywhere. So far I've used them for Mario Kart Double Dash and Prince of Persia Sands of Time with terrific success.
I am most impressed with the fact that when using them you don't have to point the receiver in the direction of the controller--what I mean is that the little receiver boxes plug in to the top of the Wii but they are able to read the controllers wherever in the room people are using them. I thought I would have to move around my Wii setup and flip it on it's side to point out into the room to maintain line of sight but it's not even an issue.
I was a little bit worried that the thumb sticks would be worn out (loose) like they became for my N64 controllers, but these seem to have held up fine for their age. They have a good substantial weight and feel too, unlike the ultra-light hollow feel of the newer PS3 controllers.
The finish is called "Platinum" I think, but I saw other auctions selling gray ones too. The model number stamped on the bottom is DOL-004 and also located on the bottom is a channel selector thumb wheel so you can set each controller on a different channel from 1-16.
They take 2 AA batteries each and I haven't used them enough yet to need replacement, so I can't say how good or bad the battery life is.
All being said, I'm very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone who wants to play GC games on their Wii.
