Here is the other lens I got for my wife that made me jealous. The Nikkor 55-200mm DX VR. This is an amateur lens with professional performance. Once again, Nikon got it right in designing a "kit" lens aimed at the occasional photographer that delivers at a bargain price. One of the things that I noticed is its' lack of distortion throughout the entire zoom range. I am not saying its' not there, just held to a minimum. Pincushion is present once past the 55mm mark, but for normal sized prints, who will notice? Besides, how many prints end up in a New York gallery for all to see? And if you are that picky about someone elses' prints, you need to lay off the caffeine and get a life. As with the 18-55mm AF-S VR lens, light falloff is practically unnoticeable throughout the entire zoom range, provided you shoot at f/8 or stopped down more. Wide open at 200mm it is visible but not to a distraction. As far as size and weight goes, it is not that much larger than its' sister lens, the 18-55mm AF-S VR. Published weight is right at 11 ounces, making it only 3 ounces heavier. Length-wise, it is only one inch longer than its' sister. And the crown in this jewel, the VR or vibration reduction. Once again, my wife has had no problems hand-holding this lens at 200mm at slow shutter speeds and still get sharp photos. But the plastic construction rears its' ugly head again. Nikon saved the consumer money in exchange for durability. I have stopped watching my wife photograph because I know she will run into something and destroy a lens and/or camera. If it is only the lens, oh well, I'll just buy her another one, they're inexpensive enough. The beauty of this lens is its' compact size and light weight coupled with the Vibration Reduction. It is capable of great quality at an affordable price and will please most. I know, I got me one, too. That's how jealous I was of this lens.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Pretty much your standard mid-range lens for all Nikon DX cameras such as the D3000 series, D5000 series, etc. It will also fit on and work with higher end Nikon cameras such as the D5, but that is not typically the target market for this lens. It has autofocus and image stabilization like other lenses in this range, and for the price it is very well suited as a telephoto lens for photographers new to Nikon cameras. In fact, this lens is the ideal first lens to buy if a new Nikon user is looking to expand beyond the standard 55mm lens that typically comes with these cameras, particularly for new D3000 and D5000 series users. It is lightweight and well-made but consists of primarily plastic components on the outer shell. It is good for occasional and even regular use, but is not designed for rugged environments like all-metal professional lenses are, which of course also go for more than three times the price of this lens for the same focal length.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Being my first Nikon I have been comparing it side by side to a T3 and t2i, with very similar lens. There are plus and minus to each camera and this lens has to be one of my favorite. Good zoom but maintaining a little wider image then canon, overall a little better true color capture over the canon 55-250mm. Surprisingly this lens is a little smaller then the canon counter part. and almost about the same size as the 18-55mm lens. SO great for bag space. Definitely worthy of your 2nd lens or your first zoom for a good price.

Had to get another lens in addition to the kit lens (18-55mm) which was a good move. Nice close up shots. Taking pictures from a distance is essential. No, I'm not saying from never never land. But you can be in the mist of a crowd and get good close up shoots. I always go over the top regarding my research of things. I,m glad I follow that practice. The lens is avg from doing a lot of reading but decent and works well with my Nikon d3200. Real quick focus is a plus. Unless you're a professional photographer this lens is more than efficient for your shoots. Great zoom photos. No complaints at all. As I get better with more experience using my 1st DSLR camera then I'll move up (lens) accordingly. You won't go wrong especially at the price I paid. Hey everyone do your homework do your research and you will always come out on top. Again, great lens for the price.Vollständige Rezension lesen
