Canon 40D is the only camera I have and I used it with this lens. Here is how it performed for me: Pros: Light and small for the focal length. Well built. IS,USM. Fast AF. Cons: Slow, for sharp images need to step down 1-2 stops winch make it even slower. Not weather sealed. Not compatible with extenders. The lens can produce sharp images, but you need to step down a step or 2 and increase ISO even when shooting outside. To me this lens is definitely needs a flash when is used inside and I would personally use it as an outside only lens. Even though the lens is not compatible with extenders there is a workaround to make them work. I gave it 4 start just because it is not 5 star lens. I would give it 4.5 if there would an option. The lens performs very well outside and i would definitively recommend it.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I have this lens and have enjoyed taking quality photos with it. I was attracted by it's compactness and advanced optics and motors. I recommend it for anyone requiring this optic range. That being said, I must say that the 70-300 range is required less often than I would had anticipated. The bottom setting of 70mm is not a close substitute for 50mm. And I have found that my most often used range is between 28mm and 105mm. So I have purchased a 18mm to 135mm EF-S lens, and have found that I change lens to the longer range lens far less often now. It's awkward having to carry multiple lens along with you when you are sightseeing. So for those times when I want to take the camera only, and not the camera bag, it's the 18mm-135mm lens I take.
The IS capability is a great improvement over the 70-300 mm non stabilized lens that came with the camera. The stucco on an intermediate range structure is very detailed. Details in a long range close up taken using a 2 second shutter delay were marginally less sharp but that was probably caused by haze. I'll be repeating that picture on a very clear day just after we've had a good rain.
Not an oridnary lens.. runs about 1300$ New. Uses defractive optics to shorten barrel length. F4.5-5.6 less than nornal for a lens of this size. The lens is 30% shorter... its only real selling point, but it is fat and very heavy. runs about 1300$ New. The Zoom ring wasnt smooth and has a lock switch because it suffers from zoom creep under its own weight. Auto focus is good. Image Quality... peripheral illumination and chromatic aberration correction turned on: Full Frame: Wider angle image quality is fair. Zoomed in Image Quality is poor and unacceptable. Contrast levels are dissappointing. flares in bright light... 70mm f4.5 fairly sharp in center but low contrast levels. Soft Coners. Improves at 5.6 and 8 135mm f5 Good Sharpness in center but low contrast levels. Corners are soft. Improves slightly at higher stops. Pin Cushion distortion. No Ving. 300mm f5.6 Noticeably soft in center with very weak contrast levels. Corners are horrible. acceptable image quality at f11 in middle but corners still weak. Pin Cushion Distortion no Ving. APS-C Same as above or worse.... the image quality is really not acceptable. Especially considering the price. Cannons 55-250 lens is 1/4 the price and better quality.Vollständige Rezension lesen

This zoom lens is the size of a regular lens except that it is a little chunky in circumference but it easy to carry around. I did some quick test shots and it appears to focus very quickly and the pictures at full zoom seem to be pretty sharp. At 200mm the lens is excellent so I would reccommend this as a great all around lens to use when you need telephoto pics. As in other reviews I read the zoom adjustment is a little stiff and the ring is a little too close to the camera body which is true but I have no real issue with it. The quality of pictures is what I expect from the better Canon lens line and the size of the lens for the range (70-300mm) is just great. I will be taking more test shots over the next few days to get a better feel for its performance and my learning curve in obtaining the best I can from this lens.Vollständige Rezension lesen
