I bought this game planning to play it with my friends, and it has been an absolute blast! The player classes don't necessarily require different playstyles, but their abilities DO boost capabilities significantly. The game has a good system of distributing loot evenly, and granting rare items just at the right time. Warning, if you play multiplayer, you *will* have to debate with friends who gets what item! They are not reserved, so there's gotta be some sort of agreement. Anyway, beyond the item hunger, it is incredibly rewarding to take down a huge boss with friends and watch it explode with loot! The game plays like a FPS and RPG. The RPG element does ask for some of the repetitive play, but the well-done FPS element makes it with the effort (and it's not a "grinding" effort). Lastly, I ignored this game for years because I was upset over the graphics switch...don't bash it for the cell-shading. It's done very artistically, and actually lends the proper kind of punk element to the game. And what's better, the textures *are* well-done and not ignored. The game doesn't take itself super-seriously, and the graphics accentuate that mood without putting it to shame. ENJOY!Vollständige Rezension lesen
TOO BAD Too bad so many negative reviews are at the front of the list, because this is a GREAT game! A first person shooter set in the post-apocalyptic future, you can play any of four characters and advance in level and skills. There are an endless variety of guns - literally endless - and I resorted to keeping a frequently rewritten list of items to makes choosing easier. I've played all characters through to the end - THERE IS AN END - although you can keep playing the plot line and NPCs get more numerous and tougher as play goes on. I LOVE THIS SHOOTER! What it lacks in depth it makes up for in ease of play and enjoyable battles. A great balance of challenge and rewards, you get more perks and money the more you fight. I've logged well over 100 hours (not 10 like one review says) and I'm not stopping. Highly recommended FPS. That said, my game was a Russian version! It had an English install, but the Cyrillic alphabet is everywhere - I love it, as it gives a really futuristic feel to the game. Bad news - my version cannot be upgraded - if you know of a Russian version upgrade let me know! You also can't play online in this version - the game has a 4-player coop mode! I don't mind, because I'm a solo player, but hopefully you'll get an English version and try out the multi-player. FINALLY - the seller was prompt and polite and I would buy again from him. All in all a delightful purchase. I'd write more, but my souped-up nitro-driven battle dune buggy is waiting for me to head out into the Dhal Headlands and whack a Skag or fifteen (they come in packs)with my Hyperion Sniper Rifle with explosive properties. Pandora (no, not THAT Pandora) is a great place to hone your shooter skills. Mordicai says HI!Vollständige Rezension lesen
I bought this game based on a series of reviews that called it was "more fun than Fallout 3" - oh that it were so! As an exclusively PC-based gamer, I normally avoid console focused games that have been "ported": many of them truly stink on on a decent system. Somehow, the fact that this game was console based either eluded me or I sub-consciously chose to ignore it, givne my wonderfully positive experience with F3. This game is not like F3, or any other modern game I've ever had for that matter. In a word - it sucks. That's two words. Sue me. Actually, I misspeak -- I don't KNOW if it sucks, because I can't get it to run past the training mission. There's this problem, or that problem, or this patch, or that DLC. Whatever - check the forums BEFORE you buy. This game must be the worst ever port from a console to PC - it simply DOES NOT WORK ON PC: I am far from alone in this opinion - again check the forums. Lest anyone accuse me of having inadequate hardware to run the game, here's a summary of my rig's spec's... W7 64 bit Ultimate 12 gb RAM core i7-920 Asus p6T MBoard sapphire Radeon 4850x2 2 Gb (setup for crossfire) I'd rate it poor/1 star, but I hold out hope, perhaps irrationally, that it will work one day and I will enjoy it...Vollständige Rezension lesen
I have had a hard time getting into an mmo or an rpg. Some of my friends play them all the time, but I would start one and lose interest and play Bioshock or another 1-player game. I saw Borderlands, and since I loved it's unique capacity of being awesome, I gave it a shot. I also really interested in the rpg + fps aspect. I am completely satisfied with the game, Co-op mode adds something I haven't played in before, and Borderlands does it very well. The enemies get harder when more players are connected, the challenges and vehicle travel are covered through unity with Co-op, which allows for a team feeling of achievement and accomplishment. This game has also been great for me and my girlfriend, because she has been trying to get me into an mmo and I've been trying to get her into an fps, and we can play this together without losing interest.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Can't say alot about this game then haven't been able to play it yet! I seen ALOT of feedback on problems getting the game to play. I've got a 880G m.o., amd Phenom2x4 2.8ghz cpu, GT440 vid card. I used latest patch 1st, then uninstalled & reinstalled, all the same. It halts & freezes constantly whether trying to use menu, setups, or just trying let intro roll or to finally get to the game part & it all halts & freezes as well. I'm sick of alot recent games that aren't fixed right & won't work. Borderlands is supposed to like multi-core units. I also tried the 'set affinity' to 2 cores only, etc. no change. Also the game just crashes very shortly after running. May get to game part but if does will crash pretty quick. Very dissappointed in it.
