Nice large screen so I can see appointments and tasks much easier than on my Z22. It also displays more information, pertaining to calendar and tasks, on the home screen. It does have wifi and I have gotten online when I was near a router. The writing pad is more responsive than the Z22, however, and I find myself adding spaces and periods where I didn't want them. This isn't really a problem with the Palm TX, just that my writing style was set from the Z22. You might not even notice. Syncs with my Outlook with no problems and I like the one button sync tool on the charger which you press instead of going a lot of other motions. I wish the writing pad at the bottom of the screen was a little smaller so more information could be posted on the home screen. I had problems installing the software that came with the product, but I just went to the Palm website and downloaded the latest version of Desktop Manager instead. I had hoped to be able to use my Blackberry cell phone to get the Palm online when away from a router, but that has proved to be unsuccessful. I also do not care for the charger setup. Instead of a regular USB connection, like on the Z22, it has a prong type setup instead which, for me, is not as easy to use. Overall the Palm TX is a nice unit and stores a lot of information. Except for having the wifi feature, and larger print which is nice for old eyes, it isn't all that much different than the Z22 and I could have saved myself some money. If this is going to be your first handheld, however, you will probably like it.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I wanted to use the TX for 3 reasons. Organization, music player, and emails(internet connectivity). It works Great as an organization tool, and although i'm disappointed the max SD card you can use is a 2G, it works pretty well as music player. Despite recognizing wifi networks, I can't connect (w/wpa security correct). I was able to connect to one wifi network, Email- my yahoo account was correct with in/out servers. the device simply doesn't have the storage and power. Internet browsing- servers and networks simply don't support such an old device anymore, so you are extremely limited if you can connect. Hot Sync is also a piece of crap, so getting anything on the TX without an SD card is very difficult. I haven't been able to install any apps.
The Palm TX is the end of the line for the PDA that didn't start life as a cellphone. If you are looking for a media player, buy something else. It has limited player potential, generally only MP3. An app purchase will resolve that, but media playback isn't why you should buy this device. The screen is large, but not the resolution of modern TFT display. So don't buy it to watch videos. Now that I have said the cons, let's get to the pros. For all it's shortcomings, the Palm TX was ahead of its time and still proves to be one of my favorite devices to carry with me everyday. The Palm TX with its touch screen, Wireless - WPA capable, and thousands of applications at dataviz, handango and Palm native makes the TX one of the most useful devices I carry. I have only had it a month or so and it already is carried as often as my BlackBerry and is just as useful. I may find a device that performs the same or better with current displays. But for now, I am thrilled with my Palm TX.Vollständige Rezension lesen
With the exception of the color scheme, the Palm TX largely resembles the Palm Tungsten E2 and the Palm Tungsten T5 in design. Rather than the classic metallic silver chassis, the TX sports a chic midnight blue coloring that can easily pass as black. In addition, the solid-feeling PDA is sleek and compact in size and weight and should have no problem slipping into your bag or coat pocket. I got this in a package with the device a flip cover that attaches on the left spine to protect the screen and outer face from scratches, but if you want complete protection, I suggest you invest in a full-size case. Besides, once you take a look at the TX's gorgeous screen, I suspect you'll want to do everything to keep it that way. The price is worth ever penny you spend on this baby. The Palm TX is well appointed in the features department. I must say they finally have wi-fi and blutooth. The TX is powered by a 312MHz Bulverde Intel processor and comes with 128MB of nonvolatile flash memory, 100MB of which is user-accessible. Not only is the amount of memory sufficient for copious numbers of contacts, appointments, and other PIM data, but you're also guarded from losing all your data if your PDA happens to run out of juice. I love this so much, I bought one for all my kids and my wife. The performance is well on this unit and easy to use, I can go on with the specs, but you can look that up. I just want you to know, that this is worth your time and money. I will give you the pro's and con's and hope this helped you on making your choice to purchase this baby. The good: The Palm TX comes with integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a large, bright screen, and solid battery life. The sleek and compact PDA can also play back music. Which is a plus I must say. The bad: Unfortunately, the Palm TX's battery is not user replaceable. Why I don't know. The bottom line: The Palm TX offers a winning package of wireless connectivity, productivity tools, and fun for adults or teens. I have to say again, you will be very happy with this unit and for the price, you can't lose.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Looks like several of these Palm TX units are coming off some kind of lease service. The one I received was used (with visible scratches, including some on the screen) but has functioned well. While I did not receive the one pictured, I did get a charging base with the unit, which was unexpected. The Palm TX incorporates wireless 802.11B connectivity as well as BlueTooth in the same package size as the Palm E2. This permits internet connection at hots-pots. No G3 service fees! Full Mobile Email and Web support when you're in the right places (Been to a wireless equipped McDonalds lately?) One thing I don't like is the need to buy a third party ($20) software package in order to play sound through a wireless Bluetooth headset. Since this unit boasts a music player, it's a remarkable design lapse. Now dated, the unit is fully functional for any number of tasks - and many are becoming available below the $85 price level.Vollständige Rezension lesen
