I don't speak japanese so getting through this game was fairly challenging, but I enjoyed it enough to figure it all out and beat it anyway. The original Pokemon TCG for gameboy was a great game, and this is basically 2.0 of said game, featuring a new island with new "gyms". Along with new areas and "duelists", you now earn coins instead of medals that you can use instead of the default coin in matches. The computer that contains mail and collection information is now in a portable form and now exists in the standard menu. You can now save up to 5 custom deck builds at any time, anywhere. And featuring a ton of new cards from the rocket set, pop series, and more, there is a lot more deck variety available. If you like the TCG and loved the first game check this one out, I know there is an English fan translated rom out there on the web, but there is nothing like playing the official game on official hardware, as long as you know the TCG and have access to the internet for card information and guidelines to some of the custom rule sets for later card matches you should be able to figure the game out without speaking Japanese, especially since the menus are laid out almost identical to the first game. tl:dr If you liked the first game, this is the DEFINITIVE version, better in every way with new content and features galore. You will have to deal with the Japanese language though, whether you speak it or not.Vollständige Rezension lesen

One of my cousins purchased this game and had a lot of fun playing it. So I decided to get my own version. The game is a great card game and fun card-based video game alternative to Yu-Gi-Oh!. The pace is a lot slower than Duel Monsters and the strategies follow the rock-paper-scissors combat formula popularized by the Pokemon Version series, but it is still fun to create and modify decks, duel a variety of decks, and collect all 226 Pokemon cards, many that remain in-game exclusives. Gameplay can be compared to a complex form of "card chess:" you set up your cards and use their strengths to best your opponent on your turns, as well as think two steps ahead of your opponent. The save battery works even to this day, and if it doesn't, it can be easily replaced. It's a shame that this was the only Pokemon card-based game that was released. It is a lot of fun.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This game is an absolute classic. If you're a fan of the TCG, or even just a pokemon fan in general, this game is amazing fun. And with the option to increase text speed, the gameplay is as fast if not faster than many modern TCGs, like Hearthstone. Plus, the sprites for each card are beautiful, and the limited color palette of the GBC is used to full effect. Especially with an IPS screen, this is one you'll want to add to your collection!

Pokemon came on the scene in the US in 1998 and started one of the biggest crazes in US history for children for its time. Pokemon is still a hit like it used to be back then but after its initial release there was the release of merchandise like most popular things. One thing in particular was the Pokemon Trading Card Game, a collectable card game that became a success just as much as the video games were. The success of the trading card game was so great that Japanese developers thought of an idea to release a video game based on this game. So basically this gameboy game is a game based on game that is based on a game. Most people would think games like these wouldn't be that amazing but on the contrary it was actually quite good. The gameplay was excellent and sound quality was good, and the music was just awesome. The game tells the tale of a young boy who hears the tale of legendary cards that some of the best pokemon trading card players own and they can be his if he bests them. So basically he sets out on a quest and learns how to play the game and goes on a journey to beat the club leaders of the area to get a chance at fighting the best players in the region known as the grandmasters. Gameplay- 5 stars. Sound and Music - 5 stars. Graphics- 5 stars Story- 5 stars. excellent game and is a must have for a either a pokemon collector or video game collector.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This game was overall fun to play, the only thing it lacked to me was expansiveness. You are able to get 8 medals, and compete in tournaments along the way. After you get all 8 medals, then you play the 4 masters and you recieve legendary cards when you beat them. You can play them over and over as many times as you like. As far as multi-player goes, you can trade cards with others, and recieve mystery cards via Card Pop! This is fun. There are in-game trades, which allow you to get rare and promo cards, but some offers come only once! So make sure you save plenty, in case you miss something. And you can battle all the trainers as many times as you like. This game is a very good buy. I bought mine because i love to play the Pokemon Trading Card Game but cannot always find some one to play it with. Now I can play whenever I want!Vollständige Rezension lesen
