Now you can achieve multiple viewings of the best Sex on TV. Winner of Golden Globes for Best TV Series and Best Actress, Sex and the City is based on Candace Bushnell's provocative bestselling book. Sarah Jessica Parker stars as Carrie Bradshaw, a self-described "sexual anthropologist," who writes "Sex and the City," a newspaper column that chronicles the state of sexual affairs of Manhattanites in this "age of un-innocence." Her "posse," including nice girl Charlotte (Kristin Davis), hard-edged Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and party girl Samantha (Kim Cattrall)--not to mention her own tumultuous love life--gives Carrie plenty of column fodder. Over the course of the first season's 12 episodes, the most prominent dramatic arc concerns Carrie, who goes from turning the tables on "toxic bachelors" by having "sex like a man" to wanting to join the ranks of "the monogamists" with the elusive Mr. Big (Chris Noth). Meanwhile, Miranda, Cynthia, and Samantha have their own dating woes, few of which can be described on a family Web site. Seinfeld has nothing on Sex and the City when it comes to shallow, self-absorbed characters or coining catch phrases. Episode 2, for example, introduces the term "modelizer": a guy who is obsessed with and will only date models. Some may accuse this series of male bashing. But women, after years of enduring shows with "men behaving badly," will relish the equal time. Some may blanch at the ladies' graphic language and ribald humor, or dismiss some of the situations as unrealistic (Carrie doesn't bat an eye when she discovers that an artist friend surreptitiously videotapes his sexual conquests). Still others will view Sex and the City as documentary. Regardless of your view, this groundbreaking series will have you longing for more. --Donald LiebensonVollständige Rezension lesen

Sex & the City was truly a revolutionary series. For the first time, women were seen on television in powerful roles where the men were sidekicks, and the conversation had no boundaries. Just look at all of the copycats out there today: from Lipstick Jungle to Yasmin birth control pill commercials, everyone wants to portray the fabulous, fancy-free lifestyle of a powerful woman and her gaggle of friends. But what really makes S&TC stand above all the others is its heart. These women become your friends because you learn all about what makes them tick. They aren't heartless, cold bitches, but people whom you could see being friends with, or could identify with. They have it all but something is always right out of their grasp, and so you cheer along with them as they succeed and want to console them when they blunder. The commercials can't do it justice, because there is no fun way of showing the camaraderie of friends when one loses the love of her life, marries the wrong man, or gets cancer. HBO allowed the characters free rein to say anything, just like we do in real life, and the results can't be duplicated. There's only one Sex & the City.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Sex in the City is a wonderful show for adults about 4 women who live in New York and their sexual escapades? It is very classically done with just enough show to be rated r and not x? In the show, one of the women, Carrie Bradshaw, writes a sex column for a big New York paper and ends up getting her heart broken by Mr Big ( short for bigshot because he is well off financially)? Lady no#2, Samatha Jones, is just like a man? She runs her own PR firm, and enjoys sex with a different man every night? Lady no#3, Miranda Hobbes, is a hotshot lawer who just made full partner in her firm, but is now finding men feel inferrer to a powerful, smart, and beautiful, firey redhead like herself? And Lady no#4, Charlotte York, is a very femine, very sexy, art dealer, who is very shy about her own sexually, but often finds it fun to experiment under sheets with different men but almost impossible to talk about to her lady friends? I really highly recommend this show to the ladys out there who think your sex life us dull or just regular? These 4 ladys can change all that for you!Vollständige Rezension lesen
