Of the current offerings for the likeness of this Transformers character, the BadCube OTS-12 Lorry perhaps comes the closest to presenting the cartoon image of Hoist from the Sunbow cartoons from the 80s. The play-ability factor for this action figure is great! In the alternate vehicle mode, all 4 rubber tires spin (as you would expect, but it's also good to know this as some manufacturers can throw in surprises) and more entertaining is the functional winch and tow hitch that can actually be used to tow other Transformers in their vehicle alt modes as well. The robot mode offers a lot of articulation so the figure is able to be displayed in many dynamic poses. Included with this figure are mini figurines from the Transformers Season 2 episode named "A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court". The transformation for this is remarkably ingenious and initially frustrating as there are many moving parts to assemble the lower portion of the robot mode body. Although as one goes through the process of changing from one mode to the next, a certain level of appreciation has to be acknowledged for the thought process that went into making this toy to allow for very detailed robot and alternate vehicle modes. As there is this offering from BadCube and the other offering from Ocular Max that displays more of an IDW/Studio Ox appearance of Hoist, for those who are looking for the best G1 animated presentation of this character, the BadCube OTS-12 Lorry is the best available. In my opinion there are only a few downsides, but not enough to prevent me from having purchased this. The shade of green could have been darker; aesthetically the overall design still looks great. I felt that there were some areas of the figure that were not steady or stable. This is apparent mostly around the waist where it seemed that the torso could rock back and forth just ever so slightly. If any are familiar with the original release of X-Transbots Ollie - the looseness of the lower half of the body to the top half is slightly the same; not a deal-breaker by any means, but this could have probably been tweaked up a bit. My only additional gripe of this and many other Masterpiece-scaled Transformers is the need for separated fingers. I'm hoping that a company like Keith's Fantasy Club, or maybe even Badcube themselves release an upgrade set for those interested in replacing basic molded hands with fingers attached to have hands with separated digits.
