if it were not for the rocker switch on some of the radios I would have given it five stars. the lower PPT switch does not hold up. with normal use the rocker lower ppt stops wording. the new radios do not have the rocker switch just two ppt buttons much better. it is easy to program with chirp making it a good inexpensive knock around radio. I am able to hit a repeater on Mt. Taylor NM USA from eighty miles away. However do not expect it to do cross band repeat it is not full duplex. It is a radio that you can take out and use in place of a more expensive radio that you do not want to get broken. The receiver is wide band so you might get some inter-mod in or around a big city. Mine picks up the remote temperature sensor (432 MHz) even when i am on 462 MHz. Other wise a good radio. Vollständige Rezension lesen

I really like this radio for its low price and features. The best is the way it switches from memory channels to the tuning mode where frequencies are entered from the keypad. When in memory mode, changing to the tuning mode requires that radio to be turned off then back on while holding a key down. This eliminates the common confusion of inadvertently switching modes.

I own the UV-5RA and now the UV-82 - I prefer the UV-82 for the following reason, it's an improvement over the UV-5, First it's a little tinner and fits better in your hand, the flash light has been approved, a nice to have but not needed, but i'm glad i have it, The major change that i enjoy is the ability to monitor two different frequancies and have the ability to communicate of either with a dual PTT. As the UV-5, it is easier to program the UV-82 with a PC, lucky for me both uses the same programming cable, The battery is different, but also very cheap - i ordered 2 extra, The UV-82 seems lighter - For the price < $35 there is not much to complain about - The only thing that may be a concern, is that you need to turn the Radio On / Off to switch from Memory Mode to Frequancy Mode, But not a big deal, It's worth the money 73's.Vollständige Rezension lesen

This is a very good radio, it's got all the features needed by amatuers radios, it is easy and friendly to be use and it is very lightweight but when it is connected with the roof antenna such as ground plane, dipole, slimJim or jpole or any other roof antennas it does'nt remain sensitive with the result that it doesn't catch weak or long distance stations. When operating it with the factory rubber duckey antenna that's will be okay.

These are not $500.00 radios, but they are quality radios and priced to get you started in ham or what ever they're certified for. I've bought many radios and brands. The Baofeng radios are constantly quality radios and I recommend them for a starter radio and also as a every day user. This store is a heads up dealer, and all there products seem to carry the same quality and performance. These people are attentive and caring associates. Thank you. Michelle Grey
