Logitech discontinued this mouse a long time ago due to a lawsuit with someone who owned the patent to a "trackball controller which is operated with the fingers and the thumb simultaneously", which is a shame because this is arguably the most unique mouse ever invented. The FX design keeps your wrist straight during operation which helps with long term use. The FX also has a large trackball which can easily be operated with multiple fingers. Although the DPI is low compared to modern mice, the ball doesn't stick at all which results in a hyper-accurate cursor pointing device. As someone who needs fast navigation in conjunction with small precise cursor movements, this is one of my go-to mice. This mouse does not have a scroll wheel, but can easily be mitigated with use of the third mouse button. The placement of the third mouse button makes using the auto-scroll extremely convenient and I almost prefer it to a modern scroll wheel now. In some programs that don't map the third mouse button, you unfortunately have to use scroll bars, but due to the ease of cursor movement this is less of a task than it would be using traditional mice. The Logitech marble FX mice are ~20 years old now and still function like they are new, which shows the build quality. Logitech has since made an ambidextrous replacement for the Marble line of mice, but the new model of Marble mouse does not offer the same ergonomic/cursor experience as the FX did. If you are going to run the Marble FX on a more modern operating system such as Windows 7 and above, you might run into issues mapping the fourth mouse button(red) depending on your driver setup, other than that the mouse is still a pleasure to use, even in 2018.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Was so missing my Trackman FX from years ago. The unit was so much easier on my hand and wrist. Had to resort to a normal mouse and after a couple years really found it bad on my wrist. Too bad this product is no longer made by Logitech since its the best trackball out there. Can still get god used ones for good prices if you shop around. Just in my happy place to have another.

This is the best trackball ever. It was introduced in 1995, I think; there's no USB version that I know of. I am still using one I bought about then. The ball is much easier to control than any of the others: it is large and doesn't spin off focus. The buttons are right where you want them and the whole unit fits neatly into the right hand (I don't know if a leftie can use it comfortably). It originally cost about $50. At that price it is a very good value, but some sellers are gouging for used ones. On mine the right click seemed to fail after several years, but I found that it was just that the thin plastic mounting for the microswitch inside the unit was softening a bit. A re-alignment of that switch and some heat glue restored it to full function. I wrote to Logitech and asked why this Marble was no longer in production. The person who responded said that he also wondered about that and agreed that it should be reintroduced. But management listens to Wall Street, not to the consumer. . . .Vollständige Rezension lesen

Love it, wish Logitech would make another updated version. The patent that covers it has expred already.

The trackball type mouse is perhaps the most underated mouse. Once you master its operation, it becomes a far superior tool. Especially the older models with the larger track balls.
