Eine der besten je gebauten 6L6 - speziell als Treiberröhre! Beim Bau dieser Röhren 1960/61 hat RCA alle Register gezogen. Doppel D-Getter, großer Korpus, Kupfer-Support,20 MICA. Herausgekommen ist ein Gesamt-Kunstwerk, das klanglich alle anderen übertrifft. Diese Röhren sind als gematchte Paare sehr selten, in Stückzahlen überhaupt nicht zu erhalten. Benutze sie in meinen 845er Röhren-Mono-Blöcken als Treiber-Röhre. Sind den Konstrukten mit 300B als Treiber-Röhre absolut überlegen, da sie den typischen Klang der großen Triode nicht verfälschen!!
The metal 6l6 tube has a very distinct treble response, the detail is very shimmery, chimey, with pronounced sparkle. The treble itself is not in your face at, its a very soft mellow yet metalic sound, like wire brush on a snare drum its laid back but adds magic to the bass and midrange. It has a specific treble response that i believe is unique. I have tried almost all the 6l6 variants, and have tried all different type of manufacturer. These definitely have character all their own. If you can run them with about 270 volts on the plates at 55mA or so, i recommend you try them to see for yourself.

There is no substitute for the original 60s/70s RCA tall-bottle 6L6GCs with black plates. I've put about 40+ hours of break-in on these with an Elekit 8200 stereo amp running in ultralinear mode. Excellent close sound stage (not hugely airy) with excellent stereo separation. Very good tone quality across the board and good controlled bass without boom. The midrange on these is very clear and crisp without brittleness or sibilance. Male and female vocals are very clean with no breakup. The high end is excellent and sizzly without distortion or harshness. These are very easy to listen to without being bright, boomy, or "dark". I now understand the black-plate RCA mystique. The tubes I received also have nice clear markings on them and the boxes are in excellent condition. None of this will be new to the old-timers who built their own transmitters back in the 1950s and 60s. The 6L6 (and it glass equivalent, the 6L6G) were work horses for amateurs building their own transmitters. With a minimum of components and trouble, a stable transmitter running about 35 watts DC was easily attainable with the 6L6. It was not a demanding tube, and was tolerant of a wide range of voltages and operating conditions. It was noted for stability of signal, and ease of construction. If you could come up with 300-400 VDC, then you had all the power you needed to handle this tube. The resulting transmitter ran about 35 watts DC inut, and was sufficient in poer to work the world! If you were careful to run it cool and not try to push it past its limits, it would give years of faithful service. It was a teaching experience, and you learned so much about building transmitters using this tube. For a great and simple design, see the 1956 ARRL Radio Amateur's Handbook. I know a lot of musicians like to use this tube, and for some reason consider them "used up" after just one performance. Nothing could be further from the truth. The tube is very durable and will give years of service. So, if you happen to have a musician friend with an amplifier using the 6L6, see if you can get him to give you some off his old "used up" 6L6's. RCA was the inventor who patented the original ST-bottle 6L6G and these metal 6L6 tubes still have that original, unique, touchable RCA shimmery/chimey tone with pleasingly broad and oh-so-musical dynamics with that airy RCA sparkle on top. Not surprisingly, they are equally at home teasing-out vocal detail in an early hi-fi rig, string and reed nuance in an instrument amp, clean satisfying tones driven by humbuckers and 'hot' pick-up alike, or delivering those wonderful harp harmonics through a Shure green-bullet mic. They are understandably prized by many jazz guitarists for their wonderful bell-like tones with a magical clarity on top, traditional RCA warmth in the mids and a fabulously solid bottom-end. And they never seem to get tiring even after hours of recorded listening whether sourced from vinyl or a suitable tube-driven DAC. These metal 6L6's rock-steady signal stability is also one reason Hickok, who dominated the vacuum tube tester/analyzer industry for decades, chose them as its standard calibration tube for virtually every model they made. The military 6L6Y and commercial 1614 are more potent metal versions of the vanilla metal 6L6 design and were the work horses often specified in 1950-1960s high-quality hi-fi amps and various military gear. They sound similar to and can substitute for the vanilla 6L6 metal in any of it's native applications. They can also sub for 6L6G/GA/GB ST-bottle variants in many applications as well as 5932s in some applications (be sure to check with your tech first as pin-1 is connected to the metal jacket!), but, in general, the 6L6Y or 1614 CANNOT sub for 6L6GCs, 5881s, KT66 or 7027s without equipment modification yielding a reduction of power output. Whether military, civilian or commercially labelled and whether wearing the RCA brand, an OEM brand or occasionally various application-specific branding, these pre-WWII through late 1950s RCA-made metal 6L6s and their 1950s-1960s more potent 6L6Y and 1614 kin all have that magical RCA sound inside and they are tough, long-lasting and very stable tubes when operated within specifications. Check the vertical lip just below the seal-ring and just above the pin button for RCA's 2-digit metal tube code (letter-number or number-letter) stamped in the metal. Whether the can is labelled RCA or for others, that code will always appear there if it's an RCA-made metal 6L6. If your amp keeps plate voltage within their specs you may just be charmed by the fluidity and dynamics of these old metal marvels. As a bonus, their metal jackets help them deliver quiet listening free of ambient electromagnetic interference. Try some RCA metal-can 6L6s in any amp calling for a 6L6 or 6L6G and you just may fall in love with their dynamics and tone -- straight from the golden age of vacuum tubes.Vollständige Rezension lesen

I was a bit apprehensive about buying these tubes. But they were recommended to me to improve the sound fidelity of my jukebox so I made the investment install them today and wow what a difference in sound warmer crisper and it's very clear I highly recommend them

Love me some of these 6l6gc for my Macs. Ive learned recently that GM is not the most important measurement, plate voltage is. I now dont buy any tubes unless they have been current matched. Plate does not always track close to GM as ive preciously thought. Ive had a large number now vary widely. No, some amps dont "require" it. Yes, all amps wont like it if its a wide variance as ive come accross recently. Some up to 50% different but measure same GM. Just be advised.
