I bought this laptop for som any reasons. It has a sustaniable, sleek design that will stand the test of time. It has a POWERFUL Core i7 processor, with a real decent 15 inch screen. The Mountain Lion OS keeps me organized, and it makes multitasking on one screen possible and very fluent. Its VERY VERY easy to maintain, and if you really wanna get a kick out this computer, upgrade to a SSD (Solid State Drive) and add more memory (Upgradable to 16GB of RAM, no matter what Apple says). Im a college student, and I work 30 hours a week, and i cant help to bring my MacBook just about everywhere i go (even to church)! LIKE- Design, Power, Applications (Final Cut Pro, Evernote are my favorites), The Mountain Lion OS. HATE- Battery, the fact that it isn't a touch screen.
This model was the last one to have a built in Ethernet port. It has a SD reader, first generation thunderbolt, Firewire - this is what a "Pro" actually needs - connectivity. As apple seems to like to do, they have stripped away connectivity from the later models, forcing you to buy dongles for about any connectivity. I use mine for Audio and video production and post production. I view the newer models as targeted for "pro-sumer" where thinness seems to be perceived as desirable. this older model suits my needs better than anything that has come after - my recent purchase was actually forced by the ultimate logic failure of my original one (purchased new).

Pros: Everything Cons: Very glossy screen (Buy antiglare film), also will get little hot with Windows Had the October 2011 model and this one is different. Two interesting facts in the 2012 model is that I realised that the screen is one degree brighter! though it was the standard screen. Also, there is absolutely zero fan noise even while browsing and opening word documents unlike in 2011 model. I installed VMWare Fusion 5 and ran Windows XP on it. Its fantastic and works exactly like the Windows OS machine. Good thing this machine has 8GB RAM. I suspect it will be less hot if you Bootcamp Windows instead of fusing it with Mountain Lion. Also, no fan noise with Windows when using normal web browsing and documentation. I also installed an SSD and Mountain Lion boots in less than 12seconds. Faster than the retina! My only recommendation is buy an antiglare film like the Moshi iVisor Pro which will reduce glare and will not harm your eyes.Vollständige Rezension lesen
As a long time PC user and video editor, I was tired of video editing software that ran slow on a PC. I have friends who raved about their Mac's speed and ease of use when working with video editing software. I was reluctant at first, as I have many PC programs and I didn't want to give up access to them. After 2 months of use I am a believer! My Mac renders videos quick and I didn't have to give up access to my PC programs, thanks to VMware Fusion (ran in seamless-mode, of course). Windows runs great on a Mac, but even on my high-performance PC tower, OSX never ran that well on Virtual box. Last of all, the ability to create a bootable clone backup of my Mac's HDD on an external USB drive makes a rare computer crash on a Mac a breeze to be up and running in less than 2 minutes.
It's the last great MacBook Pro before they started the whole retina models, with integrated memory, storage, and less upgradability. This is the maxed out version with a 2.7 ghz quad core i7 that supports the Metal framework, 2K graphics, 16GB of 1600 MHZ Ram and 6GB/s transfer speeds on the drive. Compared to modern systems it holds up pretty well.
