This camera is the photographic equivalent of an all terrain ski. It has traveled with me to ski, tour Europe, ziplining in the rain, and with the underwater housing, been diving. This versatility comes with a price, but overall Panasonic has done a fine job. In the bright sun, this camera is superb and good in low light. As with most cameras today, the chips have too many pixels. This means that you get noisy images and lens aberrations because you cannot stopdown the lens iris or you go past the resolving power of the lens. This is a general complaint, not a fault with this camera specifically. This rugged camera's sharp lens' zoom range is excellent, the anti shake is useful, the flash is good, and the intelligent auto feature is excellent. Expect bright, colorful images and decent HD video. This camera and its Canon competitor represent a real breakthrough for the casual photographer and a great addition to the "prosumer's" arsenal.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Im happy because its my first camera but a little dissapointed because it havent manual operation. Its too automatic. Perfect size, perfect weight, nice desing, impresive look specially when you use the 10x zoom because the lens grows up. The image stabilizer doesnt mean much help to your photos. Its the same if you put this option on or off. It has face recognition but i can live without it. Excellent battery. The bads: When you take a picture with low light you get too much noise with high ISO. The good: Fast, excellent zoom and good auto configurations.
I already have several cameras, one Digital DSLR and one SLR amongst them, several lens etc. etc. When yow just go for a walk, DSLR is too heavy for bear, especially when you plan to go 25-30 kilometers - then TZ5 is that camera you should see at. It is fairly small and light, have great zoom range - 28mm is near perfect for wide photos and 280 is very impressive for tele. When I've choosen for small light camera for an every day bag bearing, I've seen many reviews and many photos. Panasonic TZ3 was beaten by new Venus IV processor, which leaves more information on the screen and does not such agressive noise killer. Nice feature - HD video. Canon SX100 is too big and have too smearing photos, thanks to overdo in noise killing. Pros: Compact All metall body No lens cap OK image quality, especially when ISO 100, NATURAL settings, then downsized by Lanzsosh filter to 6 megapixels. 9 megapixels, be sure, too much for such a tiny sensor, but 6 is OK. Great focal ranges - 28-280. Excelent display - big and bright. Good usability. OK battery. Snappy autofocus. Contras: Hardly usable 400 ISO, but downsized to 5MP OK. Unusable 800+ ISO. Why marketing people sell megapixels and ISO. No manual controls. Very unimpressive Macro.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I really wanted a small camera with a good zoom for taking shots of the kids at sports and our dogs at dog shows. This is the only small camera I could find with a significant zoom--10x. The Sony digital camera I had before this one had 10x zoom but the lens was huge. The view screen is nice and large. The camera does an excellent job of adjusting for lighting conditions. My kids skate--typically pictures taken at the rink are kind of dark. With this camera I got great bright shots and movies while sitting in the bleachers. The movies are great. Burst mode is good--altho the pictures will be lower quality. And that would be my only con that the speed of getting to take the next picture could be faster. A great all around camera that easily fits in you coat pocket or handbag!
We already had one that had quit taking pictures if you neede the flash. It is a TZ5. It appears that there are a few who have had this problem. Other than that we LOVE the camera. It takes pictures fast after pressing the button, dosen't eat batteries like popcorn, the lense is superb, easy to use for point-n-shoot novice like me. I have actually bought two, one for the wife and a second for me!!! No more fighting over it. I bought one that needed a little repair and used my old one for parts. One problem we have is if you set it on high megapixels it takes a long time to E-mail or download the pics.
