Camera was more than expected. Especially with the Zuiko 12 x 60mm lens ordered separately. Olympus E30 is an easy camera to use for former SLR camera buffs. Love the optional display and it's nice to know that I can use this for the viewfinder, in what they call Actual viewing. It is a little heavier than the old Olympus Evolt 300 that I had, but from just a sample of pictures taken now, it far surpasses the qualities of the Evolt 300. It reminds me of my Nikon days with the Nikon FA. This looks like it will be a fun camera to use in my other hobby, Hotrod Cars. Olympus, as far as I can tell, outdid themselves and should be getting a much larger share of this Digital SLR market. I give this camera and lens a definate thumbs up.
Very impressed with image quality, AF speed, ergonomics, and menus. Here are some quick contradicting facts to my review. 1-I was starting to believe the hype about sensor size/image quality with the 4/3rds system vs. APS-C and full size sensors. 2-I was shopping around for other models with larger senors such as Pentax and Nikon. 3-I've been a long time Olympus user, fan, and previous owner of a Oly E-500(knew the Oly menus, selections). 4-having a set budget in what I was going to spend exactly. I almost considered other competitors. Used Olympus or new competitor? My conclusion? In reading dozens of reviews of DSLR's online, the Olympus E-30 had the most consistent and highest ratings for Image Quality(Color), AF Speed, Positive user feedback, and of course-my personal experience with the previous Olympus E-500. The only negative feedback I found-was noise at higher ISO. I chose the E-30 used, vs. new APS-C DSLR's, and was even more impressed when receiving the camera. Like I read-Fast AF, Excellent Color reproduction, Familiar Menu and Selections(some newer from the E-500. So very content with this purchase! I rarely shoot at higher ISO's-so that is really not a concern of mine. The DSLR is a bit bigger than thought, which I like, buttons are easier to reach. I did need a larger camera bag. I shoot nature, wildlife(birds), scenes, and people so this is a prefect "all around" camera for many situations. To wrap up-even more impressed when I received the camera, and used it after 2 years of watching and wishing. It is a perfect fit, with great imaging, fast AF, and more features that will take a long time to get to using all of them. I highly recommend this camera! Worth the wait. Downside? 4/3 System lenses are a bit expensive, but I will only be needing a few of them. Worth the trade off for Olympus quality-which over the years I have witnessed first hand. My fourth Olympus camera.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This is an excellent camera which can be configured to your personal preferences for different shooting situations. Battery life is excellent, as well the LED Monitor which rotates 270 degrees for ease of difficult shooting angles. Shooting preferences can be programmed into the camera on Aperature, Shutter, Manual, and Program modes. This is my third Olympus digital camera, and by far the best one yet. The amount of programming choices are phenomenal. There are 6 art filters, and 11 scene settings. Also quick access on the mode dial to portrait, landscape, macro, sports, and night scene modes. This camera also has a preview button to see what the shot will look like before you take it. Excellent camera, excellent user dynamics, user friendly, and excellent consumer support from Olympus. This was a GREAT buy on E-Bay!Vollständige Rezension lesen
This is a great camera. Fast light weight and on the money. I like the controls and features. For the money this is the best camera I have ever owned. While it is a bit bigger than the E 500 I had before it is well worth the extra weight and space. It takes good low light shots and excellent panoramas. Working with the image stabilization I can shoot free hand with the 200mm lens.
This is a replacement camera for an older Olympus E510 that I had had for many years, but an unfortunate accident damaged the LCD screen, so it was time to upgrade. The E30 was the last in the Evolt series, and by far the best. This model was last produced in 2010 (I think, or close to that), and I purchased this one used from a dealer. I had wanted newer model, but Olympus made the newer models lenses incompatible with the Evolts, and I have 3 great lenses from my E510. Overall the E30 is a big improvement. It has a higher megapixel sensor, at 12.8 vs 10, but by todays standards that is not very high, but it is plenty to be able to print large pictures without pixelation. The flash on this camera is much brighter, and it has an 8 point auto focus, vs the 3 point form the E510, which makes the focus so much faster. I do have a couple minor issues with the camera, being used that can be expected. Olympus Evolts have 2 memory card slots, one for a proprietry xD card, the other a compact flash card. The body I received will not accept the xD card for some reason (Won't lock in), but the compact flash works fine. The other is cosmetic, a broken latch on the battery cover. I will contact Roberts Camera about these issues.Vollständige Rezension lesen
