Nice looking design, very good sound out of it, but very sensitive to vibrations, so much that the chassis shouldn't be touched with a finger while playing!

I was after a top quality turntable that would last a lifetime and longer. As my daughter shares my enthusiasm for vinyl , I loved the idea of a turntable that she could keep and use with fond memories of our times together. This narrowed down my choices to a few brands in particular the Thorens. Having a Materials engineering background and owning a HiFi shop back in the 1980's, I knew that the German design and construction of the Thorens range of turntables to be unquestionably superior to all other mass produced players. The earlier models were designed to last for an almost infinite time. The metals used in the construction are non rusting. The woods are all replaceable. The mechanisms solid and serviceable. Everything is reparable. Everything is of the highest quality. These tables are superior to all other turntables including many costing 5 times as much. The Thorens td 147 in particular was without doubt the best of all their range. It features A zinc coated metal chassis( no rust). An exotic wood enclosure. The incredible Thorens tp16 tonearm ( falsely rated as average due to poor adjustment of its superior bearings and spring loaded counterweight and frictionless magnetic antiskating mechanisms). Gold or silver metal faceplate. Near perfect motor, drive and suspension setup. Superb needle protection by using a default raised position of the arm. In other words the stylus is lifted up off the record when off, or when the motor stops, or when it reaches the end of the record, automatically. Ageless beauty and perfect balanced looks. Once you have used a Thorens all other turntables seem inferior. They will outlast any turntable ever made. And the ultimate Thorens of all is the one pictured. The gold Thorens TD 147 "JUBILEE" . Only 5000 of these 125 year anniversary models were made in 1983. Possibly only half of those exist today. Their value can only climb each year and they are quickly becoming one of the most sort after turntables in the world. If you manage to get one hang on to it. They are priceless timemachines to past centuries when the infinite world of analogue sound ruled supreme.
Excellent condition very satisfied.
