If you're a podcaster recording with the Shure SM7B dynamic microphone, the Fethead is a MUST purchase. A slim preamp in something that looks like nothing bigger than an XLR jack, the Fethead provides up to 20db of clean gain, helping to overcome the SM7B's notoriously low output levels without introducing hiss or unwanted coloration. This particular model of Fethead runs off 48V phantom power - just plug it in between your mic and the mic cable going to your preamp, interface or channel strip and toggle phantom power for that input. It's solidly made, affordably priced German engineering. You'll want 3 or 4 of them for your studio!
