I found that the Husky 455 has plenty of power and practically idles through 14 inch alder, and it easily cut through 20 inch pine. Starting or restarting the machine was never a problem, and the layout for adding fuel and chain oil was perfect. With an engine this big, it goes through gas quickly, but then it also goes through wood quickly. After about three hours of continuous and flawless operation, the chain was dull and it was time to quit. I recommend buying another chain and have it on hand if you need it. They're easy to change, and I prefer to sharpen them at home where I have the advantage of time and a bench vise. This much power stretches the chain, so it needs to be monitored as you are cutting, and it can be adjusted in about one minute. Vibration isolation was excellent. The only complaint I have is that the exhaust blows straight out the front, and the result is that when you are halfway through a downed tree, the exhaust bounces off the tree and right into your face. I could smell and wreaked of 2cycle exhaust well into the next day. They probably engineered the forward exhaust position for a reason, but since I spend most of my time sectioning the tree after I've cut it down, like everyone else, a cover to direct the exhaust to the side would be very helpful. All in all, it's a great saw that can be found at a great price. I spent a fair bit of time researching all brands at various price points, and I think the Husky 455 the best value out there.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I purchased this saw brand new & overall I am very happy with it. The only problem I ran into was when trying to install the bar/chain. The instruction sheet says to remove the transportation "ring", not rings, there are actually 2 of them. And they are not rings at all but 2 white plastic washers that sit over the bar studs under the clutch cover. The instructions are very vague about this. These transportation rings also make it difficult, if not impossible, to engage the chain brake properly. If you accidently attempt to engage the brake lock before removing these rings you will probably NOT be able to do it properly and as a result you will have a great deal of difficulty removing the cover. If you DO manage to remove it, you will find that the cover will not go back on because the clutch brake is now engaged, making it impossible to install back over the clutch. After searching Google I saw that this is a very common problem with this model. You now have 2 options. Take your saw to a repair shop or fix it yourself. Since it appears this is not that uncommon with this saw I decided to make a "key" to fit over the piece in the clutch cover that ordinarily engages with the brake handle. Using an angle grinder & an old socket wrench I ground out 3 slots that roughly matched the clutch locking piece. You can see what this looks like if you Google "Husqvarna 460 Chain Brake Fix" (the 460 model is virtually identical to the 455). The key works like a charm and if the lock should ever slip again for any reason you will always be prepared for it. Other than this one issue, I think this product is great.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Unlike the re-repaired chassis fuel leaking pull-on, this saw is sweet! I put on a 20 inch bar, cranked her right up after the first choke pull, remembering to push in the decompression button on top between the first and second pull (as with each pull other than two rapid pulls) to start. The fuel tank design is one unit and not joined at the chassis like the lesser valued saws I've had. I tried it for the first time on some sucker branches and in a matter of only a few minutes, had them whittled down. How do you say, 'Whoo-hoo!' in Swedish?

The 455 indeed is a great chainsaw as others have reviewed previously so there is nothing to add in that regard. My father was a Husqvarna dealer for many years and I sold many 455 Ranchers including several to friends. However when it came time for me to get my own firewood saw, I wanted an XP model but considering the price difference I choose the Husky 460 Rancher which is the same as the 455 except for the piston and cylinder which adds 5cc of displacement. This doesn't sound like much until you decide to run a 24" bar. Of course the majority of my cutting with this saw was with a shorter, more maneuverable bar. Later I found a deal too good pass up on a slightly used 455. So now I have both because having two chainsaws is always better than one. BTW, my 455 works great with an 18" bar. A friend of mine has one with a 16" bar and it absolutely screams. My suggestion is this, as a homeowner / rancher / firewood chainsaw a Husky 455 is a great choice but if you can afford to spend a little bit more then get the 460 with a 24” bar along with either an 18” or 20” bar. You’ll likely end up using the shorter bar most of the time while having the option of a longer 24” bar when necessary. Finally if you have a 455 which needs a new piston and cylinder, it can be rebuilt with those same parts from a 460 which will bolt right on because both models are otherwise identicalVollständige Rezension lesen

This big boy did years of tree pruning in about an afternoon, it's quiet good on gas and strong engine,it didn't over heat or bog down, I enjoyed using it . I had trouble with the chain tension , but I think its more that its my first chain saw also you have to make sure you beak it in (let it run ) because it stalls a lot in the beginning, after some screaming high speed revs it gets going well, I just love this saw because of it's price light weight good balance and no arm fatigue, also any questions just go on You Tube very popular brand lots of how to do videos...
