    No brainer - excellent product and easy to fit.

    Taking the old unit apart is easy enough, it's just time consuming and rather awkward drilling out all the rivets. Removing the inner workings is a doddle as is fitting the new gear. Reassembly is straightforward. My only concern was that I thought the bolt heads would foul the crossmember when refitting to the car, but that wasn't the case. I was being quoted upwards of £50 for a used one from a breakers and may well have had the same problem, so for twenty seven odd quid, not only have i saved a fair few quid, I know the problem won't reoccur....and...I enjoyed doing it !! It's a no-brainer as far as i'm concerned and well within the scope of the average DIYer. Just a shame about those ~#8*%$£ ")^ rivets !!

    Replacement spair wheel carrier gear.

    this kit that is supplyed works really well and will save you some money as the new part from ford is well over £100. The replacement of the plastic gear in the spair wheel lifting box took me about 30 mins. All the parts you need are supplyed. It needs some instructions as I had to follow the pictures on the advert but replacement was easy. I added some grease to the components befor rebuilding. fitted it back to the galaxy and tested all works well. The only thing I found was the bolts that are on the edge that is bolted to the car hit the supporting bar. could use some domed bolt heads for those two. It Still bolted up and is tight. This is a realy good idear and wish I new about it last year when I replaced my old one. Great product and excellent service and delivery from X8R Thanks

    Simple and effective fix that saves money

    Product arrived and was simple to use. I first drilled out the rivets using the drill bit provided and then removed the broken gear and replaced with new mental one. I screwed the sides back together before alligning the top. A bit fiddley but it soon fell into place and I tightened bolts provided as necessary. I tested the mechanism and it worked so then bolted back under my sharan and tightened it up in place. Take it slow with the winding as you need to guide the tyre a little before it secures itself. Feeling chuffed that I managed it as I'm not mechanically minded. Saved a few quid from buying new. Good product I think.

    Worth every penny

    After the wheel carrier failed i got fed up of having the spare in the boot. I purchased the kit and set about repairing the carrier. The supplied drill bit is decent quality and removed the 8 rivets with ease. The online how to video was easy to follow and the cog fit a treat. Its now fixed and refitted. No more spare in the boot.

    Better than the Original

    Purchased this for my daughters VW Sharan.Very good upgrade as the original failed on first use due to a tooth breaking off when raising the spare wheel using the crank provided. As a Mechanical Engineer/Toolmaker I found the fitting straight forward after removing the original rivets, which can be done with the kit provided. A novice DIYer may struggle a bit but for the price its worth doing. After fitting it works perfectly.
