The Hobbit - unabridged reading
This is an unabridged reading of the Hobbit, by J. R. R. Tolkien. It is very well done, the actor does an exceptional job with voices, setting the mood etc. Very additive to listen to. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to all Tolkien fans. The only drawback I've found is the author's singing - in places in the text where a song's lyrics are given. It's somewhat tuneless and doesn't really add to the feeling of the work. It is probably not the actors fault, but an attempt by the producers to avoid sounding like previous recordings/movies etc. Definitely recommended and easy to listen to. Delightful, convenient, and JRR would be proud!
Excellent telling of the tale.JRR would be proud! Narrator's voice is easy to listen to, and, the accent is charming. I bought this for my iPod, so I can travel with this; I sometimes travel long distances, and I have both this and an original Collection of Tolkien's Readings from Lord of the Rings & the Silmarillion, as narrated by Tolkien himself, with son Christopher. I have to say that this item is easier to understand than the Collection. This audiobook is a most convenient way to listen to the Hobbit; for those who find reading more challenging as they age, this is a great find. Also for listening to at bedtime, should you desire. I am delighted with this, and glad I shopped around for the best price. Also saves wear & tear on actual volumes, if you bought the deluxe editions, and ... Fantastically Done!!!
Tolkien is by far and away probebly my most favorite of authors for his works of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. I bought this as I have 5 sons, who for the most part are to young to read a book such as this one yet. They listened to a CD each night before going to sleep and woke up filled with memories to tell me and anticipation for the next CD. They loved the way that Rob Inglis read, and It took me a while to convince one of my sons that the Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf from the movie did not read thier parts in it. They liked it so well that they convinced me to buy The Lord of the Rings audiobook as well.Tolkien is by far and away probebly my most favorite of authors for his works of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. This reading by Rob Inglis will prove why there are thousands of fans.
This was exactly what I was looking for. I joined an audio book club to download the story. After I joined, they said that they couldn't sell it to me due to a copyright restriction prohibiting the sales of it in the US. So I went to ebay and bought it on CD. It doesn't make sense, but I am sooo happy I got the story that was read by Rob Inglis. He is the perfect narrator for the story. There will be no doubt you made the right choice of buying this after you start listening to it.This was exactly what I was looking for. I joined an audio book club to download the story. This is the BEST narrator! I love the story and so do my kids and grandkids. This is a great book to hear in the car!! You can't miss with this recording.
