First impression when I got this was of the size and weight, after all those dinky digital cameras I have used since my Film days. I formerly used quarter plate Half plate then medium format. Loved the SLX and Hasselblad, the SLX the most. This camera is now loved even more then the SLX, it is one might say a photographers camera. Resolution just cannot depend on MP since this has 8.2MP but you would never know. The controls are a dream but they take a bit of getting familiar with since everything is catered for unbelievable depth of control, whoever designed this camera was indeed a genius. Easy here to take a great shot no matter the light no matter the lens. Naturally the best lens improves things but if its art you want this camera lets you have it irrespective.

I like the unique 2.5 inch LCD which uses the older programs, as 1D II, but enlarged. Not as 'good' perhaps as in the later 1D III, with more settings but that's its charm; old- fashioned but still very effective. The older NP-E3 battery is no slouch neither. What makes it a pleasure in use is the effortless focus and f8.5 frames per second which are not equalled in many a later camera model. 8 MP may sound a challenge, yet with file sizes that don't 'clog up' your CF card or computer and arguably subtle colour algorithms, it is possible to create some unique stuff....maybe..

This camera is a juggernaut. It weighs a ton compared to any of your modern FF DSLRs but once you’ve got around needing back surgery every time you pick this up, you’re left with an astonishingly good Pro DSLR. The menu is dreadful, the button functionality is odd to say the least but it shoots 8.5fps perfect for fast motion.

I know its 10 years old but this old girl has still got it when it comes to taking great photos! Menu not the easiest to use at first but you get used to it eventually. Top quality and the pro's choice in the early noughties. Yes things have moved on but these babies were built to last.
