From its earliest days in the squared circle, the ladder match has provided many unbelievable moments from some of the greatest in-ring competitors of all time. Originating in Canada as part of Stu Hart's Calgary Stampede Wrestling, it took on a whole new dimension when it became part of the WWE during the early 90s. This 3-disc set, "The Ladder Match", focuses on what the concept is all about - wrestlers attempt to ascend to the top of the ladder and try to retrieve the prize that awaits the winner. Included in this set are a stellar collection of memorable events, all involving the infamous ladder and the risks that these daredevils will take to emerge victorious. Every one of these classic encounters has something unique to offer the wrestling fan: usually, it is a championship title ... However, only one person (or tag team) can take home the prize. In recent years, the stakes have been higher, with an entirely different concept called the "Money In The Bank" match, where a metal briefcase containing a contract for a guaranteed title shot during the following year hangs overhead. This variation was first introduced at Werstlemania 21 in 2005, and has since gone on to become a trademark of WWE pay=per-view events. Superstars featured include Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Triple H, The Rock, Edge & Christian, The Dudley Boyz, Matt & Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam, Kane, The Undertaker, Ric Flair and John Cena, all trying to become champion. One other interesting version was a ladder match for the custody of Dominick in a heated battle between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterion. This confrontation took place at Summer Slam 2005. Overall, the ladder match has always provided levels of both excitement and unpredictability. After all, you never know exactly what will happen to the superstars who participate. One thing is for certain: none of them have ever left the ring the same way in which they entered. And, after watching this DVD, it is easy to understand why.

The Best WWE DVD Set to Date
Wow - what a great WWE DVD set! This set features tons of great ladder matches from the very earliest days of the ladder match to matches from just months ago! You'll get to see Jake the Snake Roberts before the snake - and when the ladders had to be held by officials and the "prize" was just stuck on top of a light fixture. You'll get to see lots of Jeff Hardy doing what he does best. You'll even get to see Kane and Undertaker in ladder matches - a true rarity. Most importantly, you won't have to deal with lots of talking or interviews - the matches are what we want to see, and the WWE has delivered this time around! This was my favorite WWE DVD set, beating out all the Wrestlemanias and all of the documentary-style DVD sets. While I normally just rent wrestling DVDs, I will ... Wow - what a great WWE DVD set! This set features tons of great ladder matches from the very earliest days of the ladder match to matches from just months ago! This set contains (3) DVD's of non-stop WWE Ladder Match action! It was very entertaining and definitely kept my interest during each match. There are many amazing scenes involving high flying and I-can't believe-they-just-did-that action! There is even one particular match, which shows the extreme dangers of what can happen to a wrestler when something goes wrong during a match. Yes, it involves a ladder. As they say, this is Entertainment, yet the Ladder Match shows the true atheletic ability and agility of Professional Wrestlers. I would recommend this set as a must for any WWE fan, yet also for the casual watcher.This set contains (3) DVD's of non-stop WWE Ladder Match action! Ladder Match DVD is Excellent!
This DVD has long been over due. Now, the braintrusts at WWE finally feed the fans craving for a ladder match set. They did not screw it up either unlike their steel cage cage 2 disc set some years ago. The only complaint is their is no Shawn V. Razor Wrestlemania 10, but that match is on at least 2 other WWE DVD'S. Instead they gave us their lesser seen Summerslam '95 rematch. I love everything about this set from the artwork to the Menu Screens and Match Selection. Every Match has a purpose for being on the set.Must Watch. Must Buy!This DVD has long been over due.
