What a great book. This book is for any artists, want to be artist, reborn doll artist, sculptor, IE, anyone interested in mixing colors to make another color. this is not your standard art book where if you mix blue and yellow you get green. The recipes in this book can show you every conceivable color for every skin tone imaginable. That is just one aspect. If you have a color you love but you can't find it, everything is just a little to ?something. You need this book it will show you how to mix that color. If you only want to buy some colors but you can not afford to buy a bunch of different colors, you need this book. From light to shadows, how colors enhance or distract, what colors go together, it is all in this book. I was really sad that I did not have this book when I was ... What a great book. Excellent book for all modelling levels. Very handy and easy to follow!!!
I bought this book three times, one for me and two more for making present to my friends as I was try satisfied with it. I think that it is one of the best handbook for painting faces in miniatures. The spiral like binding is very handy to use and the small size makes it ideal for keeping it near to my paintings. The hard cover secures the endless use without worrying to damage the inner pages. The instructions are very detailed so even a non native speaking American or British could follow easily. The ebay gives me the opportunity to earn some money so I am trying to spend my money again to my partners in ebay to support the community. A MUST for portraint and student painters. Easy to use
I have created beautiful portraits with the help of this book. It explains exactly which paints to use and how to mix them. Some of the skin tones use as little as five colors. First, it explains the structure and planes of the face....where the light and shadow falls. Also the ears, nose, mouth. Then each page is devoted to each of the races from pale caucasian, asian, middle eastern and deep, dark tones. There is also a section for eyes, and for hair. If you have a desire to paint portraits and have trouble with skin tones you need this book. This book takes all the guesswork out of getting the exact shades you want.
