Excellent modern model of living the Christian life
This biography centers around the costs of taking up the cross and the failures and successes of doing so. Rees is presented with test after test of what he is willing to lay down for the sake of the kingdom of God. Even though the words of Jesus are very plain about giving up all that you have (as in Luke 18:29, where He even mentioned leaving what nobody would think that God would ever ask a person to leave) American Christianity seems to tend to ignore such words, but Rees carried them out, truly identifying with what the Father did. Rees lived in a manner like Jesus said in Luke 12:33, another thing that American Christianity tries to apply only to the young ruler that came up to Jesus in a different Scripture; even though Jesus said this particular Scripture to the flock, rather ... This book is very convicting, and it shows how the cross can be applied in modern days, in an industrial society, rather than just in the agricultural society in the days of Jesus. Because of this, it is something that is even easier for us to identify with, as it brings out Biblical truths in practical ways. Rees was around in the days of the Welsh Revival, which took place in the early 1900's, I believe. This was a revival involving faith and sacrifice, and these two things are visited many times in the book. By reading this book, you will be challenged on what you value. I lent a copy to a friend of mine. She read it and some parts made her so angry (through conviction) that she wanted to throw the book across the room. (She may have even done so, but I don't remember.) She asked if she could buy it from me, because she recognized its value in convicting her. The book isn't strong on developing the relationships of the people, nor on the details that paint a setting, but that isn't its purpose anyway. It focuses on what God asks Rees to do and it voices his inner struggles with doing it. In the world, where we are taught to find our lives and save our lives, Rees had to constantly learn to lose his life, but what great results! As Jesus said, "Whoever will find his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake and the gospel's will find it." Read this book to be convicted about how far we are from having lost our lives for the sake of the gospel.

This copy is a very old copy of the book, the book came a great condition I needed this book for a book club I am in . When I brought the book everyone had the book that was in photo and I had something totally different . The first cover what was advertised but the second book was what I got

Rees Howells intercessor a book every sincere Christian should read.
I have read scores of Christian books and have found only a few that I would recommend. Rees Howells intercessor is one of the top 10 books every Christian should read.

Wow. Reading this book changed the course of our lives. It did.
Amazing story of a life truly given over in service to his Lord. Read this first in the early 70's when we first become Christians. It set a standard of honest devotion to the One that gave us His all. wow. wow. Wonderful book of a life and example of real surrender to the Lord when all the excuses and rationalization are rejected. Really, wow. Not a 'feel good book' that have become so common but one that may just introduce to the deepest joy a human can ever know. Among the top books we have ever been blesssed to know and read again and again. Bought this one as our old copy needs a rubber band around it to hold it together + we thought we need buy to give to pass onto our family and friends. Can't say enough.Amazing story of a life truly given over in service to his Lord. Read this first in the early 70's when we first become Christians.
