Great Traditional Family Movie
This Disney Movie is in keeping with the great Walt Disney family entertainment tradition of which made Walt Disney a family name! This is a "must see" as is "Ole Yeller"! It is a classic Disney film in which a family becomes stranded following a shipwreck on the shore of a distant island and rescue becomes hopeless. But, as the months pass, they come to be very partial to their new home and of course, comes the rescue after many enduring dangers of pirates, tigers, and perils of the island itself. Great traditional family movie which has been remade 2 or maybe 3 times since this original version which is the one I highly recommend anyone to watch! This is what DisneyDVD should be! Not only is this classic live-action Disney film beautifully restored and brought to DVD format, the "Vault Disney Collection" format has created a modern masterpiece, combining 21st Century technology with timeless Disney storytelling. In particular, Disc Two is worth the full price of admission for this set. "Adventure in the Making" describes the making of the film, featuring interviews with Ken Annakin, Tommy Kirk, James MacArthur, Sir John Mills and more. A Great Adventure
I grew up with this movie, and even 'all grown up', it never fails to entertain. The Robinson Family is stranded on an island filled with wild animals, and must survive until help arrives. Their adventures on the island, and their struggles to hold on to hope, to faith, to adventure, and to hold on to each other as a family, is endearing. Don't worry, though- this flick isn't all warmth and fuzz- there are pirate battles, storms, struggles to survive, zebras and tigers, a tree house every kid dreams about, a dash of romance, and their explorations of this strange and wonderful island that make this story unforgettable. Don't turn your back on a 60's classic. Swiss Family Robinson has stayed in the hearts and memories of those who watched it so long ago for a reason. Watch it for the first ... A family from yesteryear confronts being ship-wrecked with plenty of action and survival measures.
A great movie that carries you back in time to yesteryear when special effects were not nearly as perfected. The family depicted in their ship-wrecked state reminds me a lot of a "father knows best" family, a wonderful nuclear family with few conflicts. BUT, some conflicts do arise, and plenty of action takes place when they are confronted by pirates and the environmental elements. Overall a great movie to watch that is totally family friendly.A great movie that carries you back in time to yesteryear when special effects were not nearly as perfected. A True Walt Disney Approved Classic!!!
A true Walt Disney Classic which includes a huge variety of animals and scenic panarama. Action packed from beginning to end, this film emphasises and celebrates true Christain values and the Patriarchy. The Socialist who assumed control over the modern anti-american version of Walt Disney Studios would never approve of the cast or charactors today. No, films will never be made like this again, PETA members would throw themselves off the Golden Gate Bridge in protest of the use of these animals on set!
