The tool does exactly what it is designed to do. However, there are a couple things that really impact it's use. 1. You must have good access to at least 180 degrees around the hose to work the wire on the tool and fold it over after completing the tightening process. 2. Wire that is strong enough to apply sufficient clamping force is also stiff enough that it is hard to wrap without getting it crossed up. You really need room to see what you are clamping to get a good job. None of this is a tool problem, but a process problem I have done several clamps with the tool and it hasn't gotten much easier to do.

Although this design is simple enough to DIY your own version if you have some tools and the skill and time to do it, this tool is well made and works really good. I was amazed at the clamping power that can be achieved with a simple piece of wire. I have watched many videos on homemade versions of this tool but never spent the time to create one of my own and finally broke down and bought one. I'm glad I did. I expect to find many uses for it now that I have one. I know stainless wire (some included in my purchase) is more desirable where rust could be an issue but I have tested mine using cheap mechanics wire and electric fence wire so far. I don't expect to completely eliminate my use of the real worm gear type hose clamps but plan to use this tool to make my own clamps when and where it is practical. I have previously improvised wire hose clamps by just twisting the wire using pliers and, although they worked, this tool produces much more clamping force, makes a nicer (more professional looking) clamp, and doesn't break the wire as easily as my previous method.Vollständige Rezension lesen

The tool is well made and rugged. It will take some practice to use. The wire that came with it is very stiff and somewhat difficult to work with, but does make a strong clamp, perhaps even stronger than a hose clamp. If your connection is in a hard to reach or tight space, a standard hose clamp would be a better choice. I will use this tool whenever I don't have a proper hose clamp or if I need a lower profile on the connection.

Great tool. So many uses for this item. Every toolbox should have one. I saw this tool on a show and was a bit skeptical as to whether it would perform as advertised. It exceeded my expectations. I will be purchasing a larger one for bigger jobs, and keep my smaller one for tight spots. The small one will be great for fabricating hose clamps under hood. The main reason for purchase was my supercharger hose kept blowing off. It is no longer a problem, worth the price I paid for this application alone. Everything I do with it in the future is just a bonus at this point.

I used mine to make custom, short flexible, air hoses for my shop. I lost my original I purchased 20+ years ago, and although they are not cheep, you can save a fortune on ""hose Clamps" once you get one done, you will see what I mean. I use them on my 1991 Mercedes 560sec, about 3 years ago when i put all new hoses on after a rebuild. They also stand out nice with the stainless steel wire that is used, I would not be without one.
