Riding Bean is a 1989 OVA about Bean, a getaway guy for hire, who's framed for kidnapping a millionaire's daughter. Alongside his lady partner Rally, they have to escape the police and clear their names all the while saving the day. Riding Bean is an amazing romp; Bean's car, called the Road Buster, has been customized to the limit to get out of any situation. The chase scene near the end is very well done, as Percy, a guy on the police force who's made his own version of a 'Road Buster' and hellbent on bringing Bean to justice, creates a ton of damage with anything in his path. The villain is also interesting in that she's a lesbian pedo, and her partner's just a little girl. But the most unique thing about Riding Bean is the soundtrack -- the Japanese team hired American soul and R&B musicians (Phil Perry contributed heavily) to give the movie an authentic sound, since the movie's set in Chicago. Many of the buildings and landscapes are also straight out of Chicago (the manual says it's an exact replica of the city, but personally it's hard for me to believe all of it is, but still). Among anime, Riding Bean is definitely a one of a kind. I highly recommend it, in 45 minutes it creates a memorable cast along with great action scenes and simply fantastic music. You can't go wrong...just uh, don't watch the dub. Or watch it after seeing it with subs, because quite honestly, it's the worst dub I've ever heard. Even worse than M.D. Geist. But other than that! 9 out of 10.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Well simply it's like this. I'm a BIG car guy. I like watching action packed anime. And when you put the two together, i had to have it. This movie came out years ago, and i owned it on VHS, but it was lost in a fire. So basically this was an exciting replacement for me. I was very, very happy to find that someone in Ebay community had this available for purchase. Since buying this video i've been racking my brain to remember some of the movies that i lost, so as i could possibly find, and replace those as well.
The unintentional precurser to Gunsmith Cats, the Roadbuster tears up and down Chicago with his partner Rally Vincent (who's a blond in this). Plenty of cars, guns, and action. Just the way Sonada Kenichi likes it.
