EA Games' vaunted Need for Speed series, which first hit the gas in 1995 on the 3DO platform, continues with the multi-platform release of Need for Speed: Underground. As the title suggests, players are embroiled in the shadowy world of illicit street racing. Players will enlist in various underground events held on city streets at dusk. While battling rivals in drag races or more conventional pursuits, players can earn cash used to purchase an assortment of vehicle modifications. Over 20 licensed cars are available to tweak and customize from such manufacturers as Mitsubishi, Toyota, and Suburu, among others. Developed by the same team responsible for 2002's Hot Pursuit 2, the game also features official parts from Bilstein, Audiobahn, Dazz Motorsport, and other providers.

In terms of racing, this game probably isn't the best... The dynamics of the cars aren't really that accurate and sometimes it can be too easy to win. however, this game introduced so much more into the genre and spawned a whole new generation of games. following on from the success of the Fast and the Furious film, NFSU gives you the opportunity to become a part of the culture, admittidely in a digital environment. Having played NFSU 1 & 2, the race tracks in this one aren't as good as in 2, but still provide plenty of enjoyment. It takes some time to get used to any specific track, but there are only so many and it can get repetitive when racing on the same track again and again. That said, it's a great game with varied race styles which further add to the appeal. It's easy to pick ... In terms of racing, this game probably isn't the best... Big Issues with Games like this
Listen, the game is great if you ever played it on the PS2 or on the other plats it was on at the time. But if your a retro gamer and you want to get back into it with the pc copy. Please do note this, the game will not work under a Windows 10 Environment due to security reasons with the DRM SecurROM. But you are not at lost here, you may use a nocd fix to workaround this problem. All you need to know is what to do with the speed.exe file. Just remove the installed one and replace it with an Nocd version and you are rolling (Note you still need to use Disc 2 to play the game). Please look at the photos to see my post on youtube with the link and the video that it is on. Thank you for reading. good race driving nice graphics
Fun to drive overall. No supercars like in older need for speed games. This one is mostly rice rocket tuners, they do drive fast and fun though. Too much about bling for me in the car building scores. The tracks are mostly very good but I would like less obstructions for easy fast cruising,just for my driving style. Maybe some racers like to slam and bam around the track or prefer hard to run tracks. The easy setting could also be easier for less skilled younger gamers and let the good driver use hard settings. Great addition to the need for speed colection {I have most of them}.If I need to choose only one underground game I'd pick underground 2. It has more tracks with both fast open track cruising and tight technical tracks, plus a fun world mode. I liked both games.Fun to drive overall. No supercars like in older need for speed games. Great fun for everyone!
I'm a middle aged person (46), and this is one of the few computer games that I can actually enjoy. The easiest car to use is the NEON.I find that the other cars in this game are not as enjoyable for me to use, but this may be a matter of personal taste. I enjoy the way the NEON "feels", and I also like the way the NEON sounds. The designers of this game must have been considering EVERYONE when they created this masterpiece.
