For those interested in American Roseville pottery, this is an indispensable book. Everything is there! I found about every piece I have bought or wanted to buy, and have found much information about the company from its beginnings to its last days. The book does not have a very good research system, however. I was looking for a Pinecone pitcher I had bought. Nothing in the Pinecone pages. My pitcher didn't have a Roseville stamp on the bottom, but did have some dim letters. I went back to one of the old inventories contained in the book, and there was my pitcher, with the numbers included. In other words, sometimes you might have to work hard to find a piece, and use some ingenuity of your own. But IT'S ALL THERE!
Bought the book on Roseville to compare the prices with their 2006 issue. The books are very similar and if I were to choose one, I probably would buy the 1998 earlier issue and save the money. I like the alphabetical organization of the vases. This is an excellent, descriptive and user friendly guide. Having this book gives an Ebay shopper an edge with savvy bidding and a better idea about the rarity of the piece offered. Roseville was one of the lovliest pottery lines. Their colors are subtle and the designs so imaginative and clever. It's always fun to see the styles they came up with to keep the company going. If the factory could have gotten the prices we pay, it would be in business today!
There are so many wonderful color pictures of Roseville here. My only complaint is that the different product lines are not arranged by date produced. I would really like to see them in chronological order but I guess there are other books that can provide that.
