Stange movie then. Not changed since first release.
This Director's Cut is not narrated as the original was. So the lead character's thoughts and reasons for acting as he does are hidden. It makes the mover harder to understand and follow. Still, it is a classic and worthy of viewing. The vision of the future is unnerving. Slavery of whom ever is still wrong and what the reasoning is for the enslavement of the replicants is no excuse.

Blade Runner directors cut is all good except the end!
The theatre ending was better than directors cut which had them get into the elevator to run away and that's IT. Boom it's over. Director's cut ending doesn't cut it. No speculation about her incept or termination date or lack thereof, no note of hope or love, just the paranoia of getting away from other blade runner (who leaves his little paper oragami figure there for them to find outside the doorway). I felt frustrated/cheated out of a more "good guys might win this thing" ending. Oh well. Blade Runner Theatre Release 1982 The Director Ridley Scott decided to improve the Movie. Enhanced video effects and sound. He disagreed with the Studio's Happy Ever After ending and the Voiceover by Harrison Ford's character, Decker. This 1997 version of Blade Runner has removed both. Still has the controversy of Slavery, Japanese-Mod lifestyle, Futuristic but sloppy World. A plot similar to a Humphrey Bogart Detective at work. Special Effects 1982 still holds up. NO CGI. Blade Runner-The Director's Cut (1997, DVD)
This is an outstanding movie with landmark set design and miniature model effects all done prior to the onslaught of Computer Generated special effects. Los Angeles of the future is one of the major characters in this homage to film noir which had a profound effect on the look and feel of every every sci-fi & fantasy film to follow. 25 years old and still timeless. If I had it to do over, I'd buy the newer 2 disc set which has more than 3 hours of additional material with cast and crew interviews including director Ridley Scott and the major stars. The future looked unappealing and scarry in this jarring glimpse and here we are living it...Great visual effects by Douglas Trumball and score by Vangelis. This is an amazing movie to watch unfold when you reflect on the fact that every frame ... I've been a si/fy enthusiast all my life. Blade Runner has been a favorite for many years. The unique quality of this movie is characterization. You really do care about the replicants.Coupled with a great story that takes you for a wonderful ride, it never gets older staying fresh and sharp with every viewing. Since this is the stuff of classics the art director of Blade Runner created a memorable reality. It gives you the pleasure of watching a believable time and place electronically painted on the theatrical canvas of a movie screen.The director's cut is just the cream floating to the top, giving you something extra to enjoy. It doesn't matter from what genre this movie represents. Whatever the special magic that embellishes great movies is all here. Every film library ... I've been a si/fy enthusiast all my life.
