A very helpful book. I bought this book for myself several years ago. When I learned my son is taking Spanish, I bought him a copy.

If you really want to learn conversational Spanish, this book can really help. I teach conversational Spanish and am always looking for the "perfect" book for my students . I haven't found one yet, but this one is fantastic for rich content and easy-to-learn concepts. It is set up as a series of partner practice activities, and you can be your own partner if necessary. The book is an excellent value for what you get (lots of vocabulary and practice). What you don't get is an up-to-date look and lots of pictures, both of which I like in a language book. However, most newer books cost 5 to 10 times as much! So if you can handle a book with only a few pictures and not much cultural information but a whole lot of content, you will be very pleased. The Spanish teacher I have been looking for.
I've tried to learn Spanish several times before and was not able to retain very much. This book has been the best I've encountered. You can start at any level and progress at your own speed. I am taking my time and not moving on until I am comfortable. I find the book so vauable, I purchased a second one after my copy was inadvertantly thrown away and consider it money well spent.

Madrigal and Warhol's magic key to spanish book is a great way to learn to read and write spanish as it covers all aspects of grammar and pronunciation. If one wanted to learn to speak spanish this book would work but I have invested in an audio program and use Madrigal's book for understanding grammar and just how the spanish language looks written. Madrigal and Warhol's book seems to be one of the best tools for learning spanish even though the book is not a new book in content.
