Miss Saigon - Great Musical. Great CD. Great Buy.
I have seen the musical twice and wanted to purchase a DVD of the play but I could not find any. So I had to settle for a CD. I chose the original London cast recording with Lea Salonga. Needless is to say that I was not disappointed. Lea has a wonderful voice and her rendition of the songs is magnificent. Kudos to the producers for having found Lea. I will treasure these CDs. This is a double CD set, and it comes with a booklet that has the words of the songs. I love Miss Saigon
I bid on it not expecting to win since I didn't bid very high. I'm glad I did win though. I love Miss Saigon. It's been my favorite musical for the last 4 years. I got the original cast recording because I love Lea Salona's voice and I like the alternative ending. I have another full recording of the new version of Miss Saigon. I would recommend getting that version too because it has much more of the lines in between songs and you get more information about the plot and the characters.I bid on it not expecting to win since I didn't bid very high. AMAZING!!!
I had this CD set years ago and somehow misplaced it. I was crushed! I saw this on Broadway and it was unreal!! This original soundtrack with Lea Solanga and Jonathon Pryce is fantastic. I'm SO happy to have it again. I cry when I listen to it - the emotion just pours out of the songs. This is one my favorites and I'm SO happy to have it back in my collection!! Beautiful, intense, gritty--not for the faint of heart!
One should be prepared for the tragic story this musical tells and the gritty, authentic bar room and brothel language used to show the scenes listeners can only visualize. The music is charged with both fear and love, moving between the strong emotions of the two main characters trapped in time and chaos during the Vietnam war. This music and its story is as haunting yet dimly hopeful as our memories of this war and the soldiers and children left behind.One should be prepared for the tragic story this musical tells and the gritty, authentic bar room and brothel language used to show the scenes listeners can only visualize. The music is charged with both fear and love, moving between the strong emotions of the two main characters trapped in time and chaos during the Vietnam war.
