Product Information

Phantasy Star Online Episode III continues Sega's role-playing game series that chronicles the exploits of the Hunters, a team of battle-hardened soldiers who explore the hostile planet of Ragol in search of fame and fortune. Unlike the previous two titles in the series, combat is now a more strategic affair with the introduction of cards in lieu of weapons. Using a turn-based system, players move their 3D characters into position on the battlefield, work with teammates to develop a strategy, and then implement the plan by playing cards designed to cause as much harm to the opposition as possible.

By exploring the planet, battling enemies, and gaining experience over time, players can acquire new types of cards and build more powerful and balanced decks. Weapons, items, and even monsters can be used in battle if players collect the specific cards needed to equip or to summon them in combat. Up to four players can compete against one another offline in two opposing teams, or players can take the battle online and chat with Hunters from Phantasy Star Online: Episode I & II in the lobby.

Super great cheap af game. The soundtrack alone is well worth it and it’s got like four different ways to play Tetris with a surprisingly thoughtful plot. Highly recommend game and seller.

  • Nice attempt on card based....

The game has a good story no matter which side you choose. The only thing is you never really get the whole story unless you know which characters to send on the battlefield or if you look it up somewhere online. If you don't trigger all the cut-scenes you might find yourself lost as far as the story line goes. The card based game-play could have been done a lot better. The monotone voice that tells what "phase" it is can put you to sleep and the rolling of a die is just numbers that appear on the screen. Visually the card based game play is boring. It is simple though which can be a plus for a few but a curse for others. The graphics are as wonderful as ever. You can't not like the graphics of the Phantasy Star Online Series. The music is also great as always. Even though the card ...

  • Decent game if you like CCG's. A little slow on the GC.

I bought this title originally because I like Phantasy Star Online and I like CCG's like Magic: The Gathering and Illuminati. The game play is pretty standard turn based play. There is a role-playing element in that you have to walk around and talk to the NPC's to unlock some critical missions and progress in the game. Like a CCG you have to create decks of cards (you start with a few and win a few after each mission) that are used to attack your opponents. There are two factions in the game, Dark and Light, with Light using technology and Dark using mutated animals. Aside from being a little slow moving, PSOIII:Card Revolution is a good game. In my house there is someone from just about every age group playing and enjoying the game. There are 5, 7, 11, 14, 16, 32 and 44 year olds playing ...

  • Phantasy Star Online III C.a.r.d. Revolution (GameCube)

Well, I haven't finished it yet, but it is pretty good. The storyline is developed by talking to ingame characters, which is rather unique, because most games start out with like a prologue type thing. Instead of the average "kill all the monster" game, you have to initiate in battles, where you use cards, to summon monsters to fight for you, or equip items. The combinations get a little challenging, but with a little patience, you eventually get it. In conclusion, I give this game an 8, out of 10. this review submitted by the son of e-bayer whom the game was purchased for.

  • Not the best, but not the worst

I like the Phantasy Star games, and I've played episode I and part of II. I must say though, ep III detracted a lot of the enjoyable aspects of the first two episodes, so I only played it enough to get though the Hunters and Arks stories. It doesn't have replay value like ep I & II does, but if you like the franchise by all means buy, rent (if possible), or borrow the game, but don't put a lot of money into it. It's not worth buying it at or near the original game price or higher. Major differences include, valueless level system (meaning your leveling up will not increase your chances of winning a fight), it's a turn based strategy game (instead of real-time), you can't use the character you make in battle, the majority of the time you put into the game ...

  • This game will appeal to TCG hobbiests and strategists alike. Must have!

A video game using Trading Card Game based gameplay, that I feel is much better than most other video games using similar style. Comparing it to video games with a completely different style, like Phantasy Star Online Episode I and II, it is very lacking. However, that is akin to comparing a fruit to a vegetable, as opposed to comparing a fruit to another fruit. The gameplay is based off of collecting cards and using them to fight your battles in a 3 dimensional environment. The cards come to life, summoning monsters or equipment to the battlefield. The maps vary in size and shape, and number of opponents. There is also a multiplayer aspect to the game. Up to four players alternating turns, or fight against computer opponents. I first played this game six years ago, and it has firmly ...
