Rigsby, Miss Jones, Alan, Philip and Vienna the cat, are couped up in Rigsby's practically derelict hovel in the classic TV bed-sitcom RISING DAMP. Leonard Rossiter's Rigsby is a mean, conservative and old-fashioned opinionated scruff. He's in love with the winsome, lonely and lovelorn Miss Jones (Frances De La Tour) but she's got a thing for the young male students in the house, the long-haired naive but nubile Alan (Beckinsale) and new black tenant, the classy and refined Philip. Rigsby is shocked that Philip is black, and it brings out his naive racist prejudices--so Philip strings him along pretending to be an African prince. Meanwhile, Rigsby tries all the tricks in the book to woo his lovely lady tenant with candlelit suppers and theatrical displays of admiration--but it takes four great series for them to get engaged. This box set also includes the 1980 feature film.

First class award-winning 1970s comedy
First class 1970s comedy. The four principle actors, together with various supporting roles, worked brilliantly together. Lots of good visual jokes in addition to the great script writing. The only caveat is the way in which the issue of race is dealt with would not be acceptable today. One of the tenants is a black African and the white landlord makes several remarks about his race and cultural background which are based on ignorance. The redeeming feature of these exchanges is that the landlord always ends up looking stupid and ignorant, whereas the tenant is educated and sophisticated and maintains his dignity, and often mocks the landlord as part of the good-natured comedy which characterises this series.First class 1970s comedy. Excellent comedy series
I have always loved this comedy, it’s one of the very best British comedies. Superb acting and scripts, extremely funny, no swearing, so much better than ‘modern’ comedies. I’ve bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband, so I’ll be able to watch them anytime I wish.

One Awesome Series
This series has got to be one of the best comedy series i have ever seen, and believe me i have seen many.. Every one of the characters in this series were brilliant, and so naturally funny, anyone who buys this box-set will be spending their money well, and it will give ya many years of laughter.. Clean comedy
Good old clean comedy Rigsby the landlord ,seem to have no locks on doors Always gotta be in on everything, He never quite gets the hang of asking miss Jones to be his. He must be the only landlord that never made any money and ruled by some unscrupulous tenants who don't pay him. The movie is an updated version of an episode with a slight change.
