    This book will move you, and stay with you for a long time!

    The Brothers K is incisively and poetically written. It is an extremely accomplished book. The story is absorbing, but even if it weren't, the book is worth reading for the skillful beauty of the language. David James Duncan takes us inside a very American family; we possibly get to know each family member better than they know each other, although in this family, they do understand each other deeply. This exploration of individual as well as familial complexities, desires, sorrows, development and growth is profoundly satisfying, even as it encourages contemplation in the reader. We are absorbed by each historical moment in which the book takes place, and this book spans the periods from WWII through the end of the Viet Nam war. Read this!

    Halfway through, I put it down.

    VERY LONG book. Very wordy. At first I found the topic of baseball interesting, but my interest waned. I did not finish the book.
