    It is a For Dummies book.

    I am learning the Nikon system and I started with the Nikon D60. The menus and adjustment I felt would carry over to more advanced Nikon's. The first book I purchased was a For Dummies book written by the same author as this book. In fact, this author has written a lot of Dummies books on Nikon camera which means you will have some familiarity of how things are arranged in the books if you move up. I suppose the author has done about as good a job as possible. It is all about adjustments either to the Nikon settings or do your own thing. I am still studying. The book looked brand new.

    Nikon D90 For Dummies (2009, Paperback)

    I bought this after loaning the D40 equivalent from our library. It is exactly what a dummy like me requires in order to manipulate an advanced piece of technology like the D90. The type face is clear and legible. The photos are excellent and fully promote understanding.(A picture tells a thousand words) It is extremely well written by Julie King. (I have always disliked the manuals that come with the camera. They are cheap and appear always top be an afterthought. Probably contracted out to a mediocre Tech Writer.) Thoroughly recommended to anyone who buys a DSLR. I wish there was one for my Olympus!

    A valuable reference guide for the beginner

    Being a layman who barely understands what I'm doing with my camera sometimes this book is Invaluable to me. It has clear and easy to follow instructions that allow me to utilize features in my camera I scarce new existed.

    NIkon D90 for Dummies - EXCELLENT

    I bought this book for 3 reasons: 1) It was recommended 2) My D90 was new and I was overwhelmed by the all the buttons and options. 3) the user's manual was useless. Every time I pick up D90 for Dummies I have another a-ha moment. It is an easy read, the layout is logical and the information is always "news you can use" rather than technical specifications. I will always refer to D90 for Dummies before turning to the user's manual.

    This book is a huge help since I lost the cameras original book. I can find the info I need quickly to help me take photos. An easy reference guide.
